>AL DENTEDiscuss. Does it really make a difference?
Yes. Unless youre just stuffing your fat face rather than wait two minutes. The. Slop on
>>22013261Hilarious that you actually responded retard.
>>22013207Nice bait thread OP, effortless and effective!>>22013263hihi xd
What does "al dente" mean? I hear it all the time.
>>22013617Umami
>>22013617It's a reference to famous Italian American chef Alberto Dente, who invented the process of boiling dried pasta. Before him people would only have pasta right after it was made. It was his drying and rehydrating technique that helped American WW2 soldiers get through the months being without food in the jungles of Japan.
>>22013207It does make a difference, but the phrase is misunderstood mostly by intermediate level cooks. Have you ever had canned pasta? That's overcooked. "Al dente" is just a reference to avoid overcooking pasta. Unfortunately, a ton of sophomoric idiots, including many italians, will cook and serve pasta that is undercooked due to their misunderstanding of the simple concept.Pasta should be thoroughly cooked when eaten, but not overcooked. Not mush, but just as importantly, not undercooked.
>>22013756Thanks for the newfound wisdom. A truly ground breaking post, anon.
Depends, do you want your lasagna al dente? What about your typical spaghetti and meatballs?
>>22013763This dude is probably one of the idiots I was talking about. He probably cooks spaghetti for 4 minutes and crunches it down his gullet all the while thinking he's a special boy because he made "al dente" pasta/
>>22013767You're one of those idiots who thinks "too much bad; not enough also bad" is a brilliant insight. Nothing in your previous posts actually defines Al Dente in a way that's useful to anyone who doesn't already know what it is.
>>22013751Damn, history is amazing!
>>22013803>Nothing in your previous posts actually defines Al Dente in a way that's useful to anyone who doesn't already know what it is.Not what this thread is about. Read the OP fuckin retard.>"too much bad; not enough also bad"Not a brilliant insight, but the exact thing a person of average skill like yourself would not understand.
mom just cooks the noodles until theyre done but she didnt waste her life trying to make other people congratulate her for boiling water so idk
>>22013617It means Wall Dented. If you throw the pasta at the wall and it doesn't dent it, it's not hard enough.
>>22013617It means its cooked just to the point of almost being finished, firm enough that if you take a bite it will leave a dent.

>>22013810Stupidity and arrogance are a wonderful combination. I bet you could tell me all about what it's like to be shoved inside a locker.
