Or other rice-consuming peoples

I'm neither chinese nor japanese but I am a rice-consuming squintyboi and I like my zojirushi. I will only buy zojirushi. Yes I'm a boomer. No I will not accept korean rice cookers, you can fuck right off with your fake BTS sloppa
>>
they cook rice, fairly obscure invention.
>>
just get an instant pot you can cook people food too not just rice

i am korean living with my japanese gf and we use this every day (upgraded from an older zojirushi). the quality of even cheap rice cooked in this thing is so high it ruins eating rice at most restaurants. even my jap hating korean grandparents use only zojirushi
>>
>>22015069
Op specified rice-consuming peoples, not hot pocket and tendies consuming incel whites

Is this cheaper 6-cup Zojirushi fine?
>>
>>22015009
What's your budget? Zojirushi is like the KitchenAid stand mixer of rice cookers.
My Korean family member will use anything labeled made in Japan or Korea, she has returned Chinese made rice cookers lol
Pic rel is mine that I'm happy with
>>
>>22015094
Budget is under $100 but if that $20 is good enough and doesn't burn the rice or stick to the bottom it should be fine
>>
>>22015099
rice cooker's gonna work the same every time and not boil it as long as the circuit works. it'll boil the water away and clunk off. wont burn the rice , or atleast it shouldn't.
>>
>>22015099
I didn't know they had $50 zojirushis desu, I might buy that next.
I've had mine for about 5 years and it's slowing down, cooktime used to take 10 minutes and now it's closer to 15.
Also if you go with mine, get yourself a better rice paddle. The aroma comes with one that has a bunch of stupid plastic dots that make it harder to clean, I threw it out immediately

Went with the Aroma. Only $20 so if it sucks that's not a big loss and I'm guessing it'll be fine for me. Thanks

If you're desperate and broke. Otherwise the fuzzy logic style is well worth the extra money
>>
>>22015009
The cheap one but not >>22015084 >>22015094 cheap
>>
get an instant pot
>>
>>22015254
$50 isn’t cheap for most people at this point in the economy
>>
Zojirushi or Tiger.
>>
>>22015009
Steam your rice.
>>
you have no business spending hundreds on a ricecooker if all you eat is long grain.
>>
>>22015075
The only problem is if you use a stainless steel pot on a pressure cooker, long grain rice will DEFINITELY stick when it's done if you don't either 1) serve it all relatively quickly, and/or 2) put your leftovers into containers. Don't leave it on "Warm" or "Reheat." You're going to end up with a pot caked with rice if you do.

It's a fucking pain in the ass, unless you're okay with letting dishes soak. And soak. And soak.
>>
>>22015982
I fluff the rice when it's done and leave the lid off for a few minutes. This seems to help a lot. Only a few stuck grains to wash
>>
>>22015995
I'll try this the next time I make it--I keep putting the lid back on. Giving it some time with it off is obvious in hindsight.

i get why people might assume long grain is all there really is for rice in america, but fun fact, a lot of japanese style medium grain rice is grown here (ex. calrose). we literally make rice for japan but you never see shit like onigiri or tkg for sale here. it's criminal, there are so many wonderful dishes that are super simple and use rice as a staple grain, but americans love their bread so much they think rice is boring. it's not, good rice is one of life's few pleasures, and medium grain rice is really good rice. i grew up on long grain, i have long grain still in the pantry, but i can't see myself going back. medium grain is just too good...
>>
>yeeeeees you need 600 dorra ricu cooker stupid gaijin
>>
>>22015080
neither Chinese or Japanese know how to make rice indeed

memehack i always shill to people is to check your local auction house for rice cookers religiously if you live in NA

for whatever reason, these things get returned for the most insignificant (sometimes literally imperceivable) """damages""" and amazon/etc sends it straight to auction houses

at least once a month a few of these $300-400 MSP Zojirushi cookers go up for sale at my local place and they never sell for more than $50. all sold with a guarantee to work or money back

you're bidding against people flipping shit and even then these usually don't get half as many bids as anything else because the market for them is minimal so they won't ever go too high

plus these nicer zojirushi models play cute songs when they start and finish it's like your little pal who loves to help you make rice it's so excited to feed you delicious rice and sings happy birthday every time

A $100 instapot is a good appliance that has more than one application.
>>
>>22016401
I use my ricecooker at least once a week. I only use my instapot when I'm bothering with non canned beans or doing a rapid braise so maybe once or twice a month. a rice cooker is more convenient for the task you're going to be doing more often.
>>
>>22016167
After years growing up with improperly overcooked long grain I'm content focused on separate toothsome grains. maybe I'll get bored of that eventually and delve into more complex medium grain.
>>
>>22016401
You can make a whole meal in a rice cooker, especially if you’re eating for one
>>
>>22016337
Where is NA (North Africa?) and can you link to an auction house website? I'm interested in getting a deal
