Where can I get basic bitch uncoated stainless steel pots and pans that don't cost several hundred dollars? My mother has destroyed yet another "non-stick" pan, this time it was a "ceramic" GreenPan™. She refuses to touch cast iron, claims it's too much trouble to clean and maintain. She needs something that can survive being brutalized by high heat, metal utensils, and general incompetence. Plain stainless steel is the only thing I can think of that fits the bill.
Get a stainless steel pan. Hope this helps.
>>22015988Thanks brother, this is the kind of deep insight I come here for.

>>22015983restaurant supply store. you can get a stainless steel pan that's the same thing restaurants are bullying in the kitchen all day for like $35
>>22015983you can literally buy them at Walmart for under 50 bucks. they won't be the highest quality but steel is steel. worst case is they're just gonna be a little thin or whatever. they're still fine.
>>22016036My local Walmart has Teflon coated pans, ceramic coated pans, diamond coated pans, and cast iron pans, but no plain uncoated stainless steel pans.
Ikea i guess?i got one for 15 euros
>>22015983Cuisinart makes decent stainless pans for a low price, although they only have a bonded base. Get 'em at Meijer or possibly Walmart.
>>22016215Don't have an Ikea within 3 hours of me.
>>22015983What is it with boomers refusing to understand that non stick pans need to be touched with kid gloves? They always rape them (steel tools, dishwasher...) and then complain
>>22015983look into the new viking PureGlide Pro series. they seem like they'll fit the bill pretty perfectly
>>22016059>>22016226just get them on amazon if your local stores don't have them. there's lots under $100 and even under $50. in my experience with cheap stainless steel, the only real downsides are thinness and susceptibility to pitting. so they don't retain heat quite as well but it's not really gonna be an issue for most people. and the pitting is just visual, it's not going to hurt you. otherwise, they hold up fine. it's steel. go closer to the $100 range if you want to be safe.
Get All Clad D3 or Made In.
>>22016397You also have to get the pan ridiculously hot and use oil (a high smoke-point oil or you're in for a visit from the fire department) for it to be nonstick.

>>22016397Stainless steel doesn't give a shit what you do with it. It's the least fragile kind of pot you can own.You are probably thinking of cast iron.>>22017064Just use a nonstick pan/pot if you need it to be nonstick. Stainless is great for dishes where you deglaze anyway like stews and sauces. Different tools for different applications.
