But also in our house, "dad food" meant weird random shit because mom was a shopping machine, had her list, knew the aisles, got in & out with maximum efficiency.... but dad was a kid in a candy store on the rare occasions that he shopped, dazzled by the shelves, would grab anything in a colorful box. He was also a gunny in Nam and killed a lot of gooks, so no gook shit. I wasn't allowed to eat ramen noodles until I was 25, had to explain that they were the good gooks, the ones we nuked, they made Nintendos. Dad was a gamer.
