But they invented cheddar, so they're cool in my book.
>>

I was skeptical about British food until I tried the Branston-and-cheddar combo (with actual mature cheddar, not the shit you get in walmart).

It's fucking good
>>
Brits have a tonne of good food just most of them can't or don't bother cooking it anymore.
>>
>>22020540
Why is that? Are they too busy doing "wolly wolly bip up to the chippy"?
>>
"lol British food is so bad" is mostly a meme based on ignorance. It's just a lot of British food is now part of people's everyday life globally, especially in the West. It's just the boring regular food.
>>
I'm from Italy. I spent a month traveling around Scotland, Ireland, the Isle of Man and North England a few years ago.
The shit quality of the cuisine is overstated.
It's not bad at all, so long as you're not eating foreign food. Brits can't do any foreign cuisine justice at all but their everyday stuff is alright.
>>
>>22020565
Brits can do every foreign food on earth extremely well if you're willing to pay a lot.
>>
>>22020597
Isn't that kinda true of every (relevant) country, though? There's going to be a big city somewhere with super expensive fine dining that's going to be delicious, but I feel like that's its own thing and isn't too representative of the common folk of said nation.
>>
>>22020605
I don't only mean michelin stuff. They've imported such an insane number of immigrants that a side effect is that there are a lot of very good ethnic restaurants. If you pay maybe 50-100% of what you would at a run of the mill Indian or Thai place or something you will get very good food. It's not only limited to London either which is what makes it different than some other countries. All that being said, I'm not paying 50-60 pounds/euros for the privilege of eating something that isn't complete ass.
>>
>>22020528
I started making savory pies at home this year and it's good but they'd probably hate me for making Italian sausage pies and bacon and egg pies.
>>
>>22020611
bongs dont have the same autistic obsession with muh nonnas recipe that italians and spaniards do
>>
>>22020532
yeah thats a good sandwich. english food is great, i dont know theres this meme about it being bad.
>>
Cheddar is mediocre. Basically hard american cheese product.
>>
>>22020614
That's good because I love my breakfast pies.
>>
>>22020556
>a lot of British food is now part of people's everyday life globally, especially in the West
like what?
>>
>>22020684
Believe it comes from american ww2 soldiers getting served shit meals and the post war rationing making their good meals unviable. Currently I think is because their sloppa gets too much attention.
>>
>>22020893
This
WW2 food rationing in Britain was grim and for many items it carried on until the 1950s.
Many forget that depression era America was just as bad.
> Currently I think is because their sloppa gets too much attention.
Currently I think a lot of people just hate on Britain because of reasons and this isn't just food it's for anything.
>>
>>22020791
Well, most people here just eat birgers and pizza but

How about literally any combination of roasted meat, sauce, potatoes and veg on a plate

Sandwiches, pies
>>
>>22020971
>literally
>>
>>22020982
Literally and legitimately are the two most incorrectly used words in the English language.
The difference between legitimate and genuine and the difference between literal and figurative are lost on a lot of retards these days.
>>
>>22020791
Any sort of ham, roast beef, sandwiches in general, royal bacon, shepherd's pie, fried chicken, most potato dishes, fried fish, apple pie, trifle, sponge cake, porridge, beer, rabbit, lots of stews and soups, oysters, gingerbread, meat pies, custard.

A lot of run of the mill food that would just be called "regular food" especially in the west all has British origins. But because a lot of those foods are now global, they've lost their British association. So they're not really associated with British cuisine now, or any cuisine really.

>>22020982
Yeah literally. Nobody in the world roasted meat before Britain. Fun fact.
>>
>>22020989
>Literally
Literally - is only used by 15 year old American girls.
>>
>>22020971
>The british invented having potatoes and veggies on plate
>>
>>22020791

What's the scoville equivalent of cheese strength?
i'm afraid of limburger even though i've only read about it in fiction
>>
>>22021360
Apparently its smell is extra strong so drunk people find it more appetizing. Try getting drunk first.
>>
>>22020964
its also the libshit middle class that hate themselves, their country, their culture and their history. they'd rather eat south american slave gruel(quinoa) than a sausage roll
>>
>>22020528
Honestly Irish food is kinda bleh (I'm Irish myself), it's just mad we get some sort of pass
>>
>>22021360
Comte smells 3x worse
>>
>>22020991
>Nobody in the world roasted meat before Britain
this is a joke, right?
>>
>>22020614
only because we lost those recipes, like a bunch of idiots
damn shame too; she made the very best lancashire hotpot
>>
>>22020687
>Cheddar is mediocre.
You've only had the shitty ones then. When it's aged properly, it's wonderful (much like a good Parmesan can be a great thing too).
>>
>>22022841
Always the same excuse. I tried DOZENS of cheddars, even meme variants like Cahill's porter cheddar, which actually is one of the better ones, and NOPE, all mediocre. It's good for cooking with, but that's it!
>>
>>22020528
based as fuck

We are very good at pies, I feel.

But I find it strange how little interest the British have in seafood. Like I'm the only guy under 30 I know who will buy and roast up some mackerel in summer.

2012 humor was really something
