Why do so many 2nd Gens look down on it. It liked by internationals and everyone else.
>>22020790same reason certain people refuse to acknowledge ny style pizza as superior to neopolitan, even though the truth is self evident
Because it tastes like shit, it was cooked hours ago, you're just having someone scoop some sugar coated sysco crap into a paper bowl before you drink from a paper straw after you pay $16 for some of the cheapest food possible. Its all crap and anyone who eats there is wrong and stupid.
>>22020790>liked by internationals and everyone elsedoubt
>>22020790i dont know how this place stays in business. there is no where they are operating that doesnt have a dozen local chink food shops selling larger portions at a lower price.
>>22020790Because it fuckin sucks, it's similar or worse quality than the average hole in the wall Chinese spot. And way more expensive.I'd rather get my Chinese food from Happy Dumpling or China Wok than Panda fuckin Depress
>>22020790I want to like Panda Express, because it's bright and cheerful and the food I've had from the local one has always been fresh and prepared well. But it's just so fucking bland. No.Also, 2nd gen Asians like all Asians are snobby about all the wrong things. I mean, I like 'em anyway, but really.
>>22020842Delete this now
>>22020790I like it. They got good variety.>says the man about to be burned at the stake in a thread full of salty ass, bitch ass anons.
>>22020790basic american chinese food is supposed to be savory, panda express has only one flavor note, SUGAR.They disguise their low quality garbage meat with thick sugary marinades and coatings, it tastes so sickly sweet, it tastes like a dessert.panda express is basically the lowest tier of commodifed chain chinese mall food in the US, there's so many better options, they are the sbarro of chinese food
>>22020790I guess it would be the same as growing up with homemade burgers and then going to mcdonalds one day. Its just that fast food cant compete with the og's
>>22020919Sbarro is a decent but not great pizza, especially if you have no other NY-style options.Panda Express is just bland, and yes, sticky-sweet. It's too bad because they get a lot of other things right. >>22020922Nah, they're both trying to pull rank, and Panda Express is just not that good. It's not about home cooking vs fast food. I grew up eating Louisiana-style food at home and Popeye's is fine. A lot of people think fast food burgers are better than they can do at home, anyway.
>>22020930>they're both trying to pull rankThat I can agree on, I have met second gens from various nationalities and they tend to be eilitists when it comes to their food.>A lot of people think fast food burgers are better than they can do at home, anyway.Even frozen patties are superior to several fast food places, so I can say that we should discard cooklets opinions.
>>22020854Based.
>>22020932>to be eilitists when it comes to their foodIt's just middle-class striving, really. Even David Chang's food writing is embarrassing from that angle. The column he wrote for GQ shitting on Thanksgiving dinner should be framed and used as an exhibit for that kind of thign. His recipes are OK though and I regret not getting the chance to eat at one of his restaurants at their peak. It's rare you'll meet any of that type though that know shit about food.
I moved to the suburban Midwest a couple years ago and panda is by far the best Chinese I’ve been able to find out here. The local chingchongs just can’t compete with panda’s beaners. Oddly the local Thai places are perfectly serviceable, so that’s a mystery.
