A-are they making fun of us!?
>>
And what is it exactly they consider white people food? Food not coated in oil and bathed in thickened soy sauce?
>>
>>22021125
It sounds like your friend was a cooklet
Sauces are often made from vegetables cooked down, including soy sauce
>>
>>22021086
lol anyone who gets mad about this is stupid, they just want to try the sandwiches and salads that we eat in the West, typical trend slop in Asia with a dumbass title written by some millennial
>>
>>22021086
They always do. More reason to lob nukes at them.
>>
>>22021131

>some millennial

>anyone who gets mad about this is stupid
you said it, not me.

i watched a video on youtube about how chinese restaurants are trying to branch out and expose people to more chinese food than just general tso's. they used peking duck as an example. literally just another bird also coated in stick oil and sauce. its just sad.
>>
>>22021125
Was he a regular, working class chino? I had the impression that the Chinese upper class were getting into seasoning with just plain salt.
>>
>>22021171
chinese places have always had more than general tso's. you needed an entire documentary to tell you what a yelp photo of a menu from 1998 could have told you?
>>
>>22021125
>he couldn't comprehend the idea of flavouring food with vegetables.
either he's retarded or you made this up. chinese use more garlic, ginger, and scallion than anyone else.
>>
>>22021086
They don't want to try out food out of sincere interest in respectful cultural exchange. They just want to "try" it to make fun of it in their gay little chinese tiktok videos.

Don't ever let them trick you into thinking they don't hate us.
>>
>>22021086
there’s no sauce on the sandwich or dressing on the spinach. it’s clearly just “let’s make a crummy version of something to make fun of it” which is so lame
>>
>>22021202
>They don't want to try out food out of sincere interest in respectful cultural exchange. They just want to "try" it to make fun of it in their gay little chinese tiktok videos.

100% correct, the videos feature chimping out and feeling sad about eating sandwiches and salads for a meal.

Look up 白人饭

We should do the same by eating unseasoned dogs

Middle class Australian-born Shanghainese.

He considers garlic and ginger "spices". He was shocked when I told him that I make stews only flavoured with beef, carrot, parsnip, celery and onion. He had also never heard of British dumplings, but he gets a pass for that.

>>22021171
One thing that I really wish the west had more of is jianbing. There was this tiny little place I used to go to whenever I travelled interstate for work, but it closed down.
>>
>>22021219
>there’s no sauce on the sandwich or dressing on the spinach
Seems to be the norm in these videos I've seen. Japs have Kewpie, but do chinks really not know about mayo?
>>
I see Asians eating white people food all the time. The fuck of love European style cafes so much they don't just copy but make an even whiter version.
>>
>>22021304
I live in a college city and all the nice cages are always packed with the mega rich Chinese and Korean students. The Japanese don't seem to care about cafe culture probably because they already stole it years ago. Them Japaneseers make some damn tasty baguettes and coffee.
>>
>>22021086
they unironically aren't. i remember reading into this a while ago and in general they seem to be doing this in a respectful manner, and genuinely try to appreciate the subtle, simple flavors of 'white people food'.
>>
>>22021245
>He had also never heard of British dumplings, but he gets a pass for that.
I suppose. It's a very "new American" thing now too. A recipe on the Betty Crocker web page includes the disclaimer "While you’re also probably familiar with meat-filled Asian dumplings, this American dumpling is actually a biscuit dough that’s boiled in the broth of the chicken stew." I can only imagine the stupid conversations that prompted that.

I live in a 3 university city and I noticed the same, minus the part about the Japanese cause we don't have much anyway. Both the Koreans and Chinese started opening up their own cafes and I call the style "idealized French and Italian". They do I good job I'll admit.
>>
>>22021323
What the hell are you talking about? American dumplings are a classic. Not knowing what dumplings are is like not knowing what an apple pie is.

What's wrong with a good ol Vesperbrot?
>>
>>22021107
>what is it exactly they consider white people food?
cheese.
>>
>>22021086
The white food of China is Cantonese. Cantonese cooking focuses on the freshness of ingredients and technique for flavour and not dumping shitloads of spices and sauces to cover it up. People make fun of ham and cheese sandwiches between Wonderbread, and rightfully so, because it's shit in shit. But what if it was gruyere and prosciutto between sourdough bread?
>>
>>22021086
Great. Now every italian, french, german etc. is now in the boat of how chinese view amerislop.

I hadn't heard of those kinds of dumplings, which are called soup dumplings IIRC, until I moved to below the Mason Dixon line. Chicken and dumplings isn't really a northeast dish

I tried making stir fry to lure in a chinese into my house, but I used too many noodles and everything came out to soggy despite me using the perfect stir fry temp of 425f

Spotted the “new American”. It goes back to colonial times.
>>
>>22021408
I guess I was unclear. It’s a “new American” thing to not even know what American-style dumplings are. It’s colonial food that the “nation of immigrants” does not eat at home.
>>
>>22021086
>white people food
Wouldn't that be retardedly hot sauces and bacon bits+shredded cheese on everything?
>>
>>22022503
in Asia, "white people" means British people
>>
>>22022506
But that would mean gargantuan amounts of random fried shit (a.k.a. "munch boxes") and savory pies.
>>
>>22022503
You mean lunchables and poptarts
>>
America should be nuked for subjecting us to this shit. They sent all their jobs to China and financially backed them. Now there are a billion Chinese and you can't just ignore them. The Chinese are always in your ear talking shit, inserting themselves everywhere. When I was a kid the only places that mattered were America and Europe, and sometimes Japan. No one gave a fuck what Chinese or Koreans or Indians said. Their populations have tripped in our lifetime mostly because Americans paid for it. Now you have fucking Chinese and Indians imposing themselves due to the sheer number of them. You can't ignore 1 billion people.
>DUDE CHINESE EAT SANDWICHES
Who the fuck asked?
>>
>>22021086
the same headline in ethiopia
Everyone in Ethiopia wants to try food
>>
>>22021107
In my experience, East Asians generally call food with low prep work (sandwich, salad, simple meat/cheese/carbs) "white people food"

It's a compliment, not an insult. A lot of East Asian meals require a lot more complex cooking, so some Asians are looking to make their meals simpler by eating "white people food"
>>
>>22021086
have they finally realized that torturing animals actually worsens the taste?
