De Cecco is actually sold in regular grocery stores in Japan
Anyway, that’s all from a Japanese person.

Incidentally, this De Cecco is roughly 4 dollars(税込価格647円) per kilo.

I stopped making Napolitan with canned tomatoes because I started to feel like it gets too sweet.

>>22021850
I've never been abroad, so I didn't realize how common De Cecco is outside of Japan.
I'm just happy to know my favorite pasta is loved worldwide.

>I've never been abroad, so I didn't realize how common De Cecco is outside of Japan.

It's gotten popular in America over the past 10 years. Used to be the only pasta people bought here was Barilla or random no-name grocery store brands, but DeCecco has marketed itself as a more upscale pasta. It's still pretty basic, but it is a tier higher than Barilla at least

how much dollars is =Y
>>
its Rummo for me
>>
>>22021911
The exchange rate is 158¥ to a dollar.
From the top of the receipt, the items are:
Canned shelled clams (50g)
Canned shelled scallops (40g)
Japanese garlic
De Cecco (1kg)
Canned whole tomatoes (400g)
The prices shown are before tax, so you need to add 10% to them.

Interesting, >>22021845, are you making a seafood pasta?

Tbh im not a big fan of pasta bc i ate it so much as a kid. I do like cream pastas though. What other western foods do japanese people eat often?
>>
>>22021931
Much of the "Western food" in Japan has been adapted by locals, making it difficult to define what truly qualifies as Western.
If dishes like Hamburg steak, fried shrimp, Napolitan, and omurice count, then Japanese people eat Western food very often.
Excluding those, pizza is a popular choice, though it’s treated as a slightly expensive meal out rather than something made at home.
That said, since you can find pizza topped with curry or shrimp and mayo here, there's no guarantee that even pizza remains authentically Western.

Originally, "Teriyaki" wasn't a sauce, but a "cooking method."
Teriyaki sauce was actually created in America, but Japanese people imported it back and started selling it themselves.
Now, Teriyaki sauce is way more famous than the original cooking method.
Also, California rolls, which people used to say were "an insult to sushi," are now regularly served at conveyor belt sushi restaurants.

Did they name themselves after Don Quixote?
>>
>>22022153
Yeah, exactly.

By the way, you can find De Cecco and Barilla just about anywhere, but I’ve almost never seen any other foreign pasta brands here.
The most famous pasta brand in Japan is one called "Ma-Ma."

>>22021845
What do you make with the DeCecco, Mr. Japan man? Arigato gozaimasu in advance.
>>
>>22021845
Is it sold in Don Quijote?
>>

Very interesting, thanks for sharing your knowledge

>What is a typo?

>A typo, short for "typographical error," is a mistake made in the process of typing or printing text. It typically occurs when your fingers hit the wrong keys on a keyboard, or when you misspell a word while maintaining fast typing speed. In the world of technology and computing, typos can lead to code bugs, misdirected emails, and even security vulnerabilities if passwords are typed incorrectly. The effects of a typo vary depending on the context, but they’re usually easy to correct once identified.

I only ever make two things: one where I simmer whole tomatoes in pasta water, toss in the pasta, and top it with toasted breadcrumbs, and another where I cook clams (or scallops) in white wine and mix in the pasta and pasta water.
Those are the only two I make.
Only people with money to spare can afford to eat "authentic poor man's pasta."
A single woman living alone would never make that from scratch for herself.

>>22022785
Almost all daily essentials and groceries are available in-store, except for high-end items
For the more expensive products, they even sell things like anime figures, TVs, and model guns.
That said, you hardly ever find cheese other than mozzarella.
Actually, in Japan, the ingredient list often just says "Natural Cheese," which is basically just a blend of different cheeses.

I miss Japan so bad it hurts...
