Why did barcades fail?
>>
They are all over the place here in the PNW
>>
>>22024126
Yall fuckers are weird up there
>>
>>22024126
Yeah, they absolutely have not failed over here. Kind of irritating how many trannies and other freaks I'm forced to look at when I go to my local one though.
>>22024130
Yep.
>>
>>22024130
Yeah, but i think it has more to do with the weather. We do a lot of inside things 4-6 months out of the year
>>
>>22024132
Stop looking in all the mirrors then
>>
Because the target market was lefty faggots and now being a lefty faggot s'oyboy is out of style. They lost the culture war, plain and simple. The world has become /pol/, talk to anyone and they use phrases that were common on /pol/ 5 years ago.
>>
>>22024132
>trannies and freaks
Who exactly do you think would regularly go to a “barcade”.
>>
>>22024096
because they are bars with a few arcade games instead of arcades with a few bar items
>>
>>22024126
Yeah they have a good couple in Minneapolis and St Paul still. Pretty chill places. If they don't have simpsons arcade or tmnt I'm not staying though
>>
>>22024150
You don't get it, enjoying things as an adult that you enjoyed during your childhood makes you gay. Unless it's something like fishing or building models even though they're just as big of time and money sinks as video games
>>
>>22024096
They didn't
>>
>>22024150
Im just saying the general atmosphere those places tend to cultivate tends to attract an alt crowd. Most niche bars like arcades or axe throwing tend to get by on novelty visits and a handful of weirdo ride or dies
>>
>>22024150
>regular white dudes
No, weird white dudes. By being weird you are forced to share your hobby with other weirdos. I'm sure there's people who look at you with the same disgust that you have looking at trans.
>>
>>22024172
Video games are mainstream, not weird
>>
>>22024096
>arcade
1980's
>the original arcade bar
est. 2004
>depressing grey bunker with a massive garbage unit at the entrance
You attract this guy >>22024132, the incel >>22024140 and the fruitcakes they're complaining about. That's not a business model or niche market, it's a recipe for disaster.
>>
>>22024096
any bar thats entirely indoors sucks ass, no place to smoke(or vape as the kids do today), by nature barcades are forced to be indoors only
>>
>>22024172
>By being weird you are forced to share your hobby with other weirdos
And if you instead like videogames?

Ground Kontrol is an arcade first and a booze emporium second. Probably why it has lasted for so long while the newer places failed.
>>
Margins on bars are thin unless they sell a shitload of food or have really high traffic. Now imagine a bar that doesnt do either of those things and they have depreciating assets that need constant maintenance.

I went to Piratz Tavern in silver spring after they undid everything from the episode, it was a total shithole but jon was also a moron for making a soulless corporate restaurant in a bedroom community. Quarry House across the street is a certified dive and an actually good bar that has stayed in business (even after it burned).
>>
>>22024302
You gotta burn down a good bar at least once if only to have the insurance company cover renovation
>>
>>22024292
If anything, arcade machines are gaining value as collectibles. Even if they're used
>>
>>22024199
Another PNW institution.

Portland is awful and the weather is always really bad. You shouldn't come here.
>>
>>22024096
Every other brewery has some sort of game. At the very least, there’s a chess/checkers board with a 3 pieces missing.

Leave your shithole city.
>>
>>22024202
Do you ever ERP as Teto to help your friends cum after you guys get back from pounding some brews at the local barcade?

I call them sub 6/10 foids
>>
>>22024140
Hush, child.
>>
>>22024096
One of the big things is that there's no new games to play, so everything is reliant on 70s-90s nostalgia outside of a few specialty games still being made. The appeal of playing the same six beat-em-ups or couple of shooters on unlimited credits falls apart real fast when you have games at home with a lot more substance and more replayability.

>>22024140
Shut up, faggot.
>>
>>22024860
>>22024885
samefag
>>
There's one in my town but I've never gone.
I dunno, I walk by the TMNT machine in my hometown's theater that's been there for 20 years and I feel nostalgia but in a barcade it all feels like its fake and gay window dressing.
>>
>>22024885
>The appeal of playing the same six beat-em-ups or couple of shooters on unlimited credits falls apart real fast when you have games at home with a lot more substance and more replayability.
That's like saying the appeal of bars falls apart when you've got cheaper alcohol at home to drink. It's the whole atmosphere and being away from home that makes it a worthwhile experience.
>>
>>22024132
i hate to break it to you, but if you're going to the barcade alone (be honest, you're going alone) you are one of those freaks.
>>
I don’t like playing video games while intoxicated
>>
>>22024132
>Kind of irritating how many trannies and other freaks I'm forced to look at
nobody's forcing you to look at anything lil bro
just fuck one of the troons and get it over with
>>
>>22024140
Yeah but you don't talk to anyone so you're talking out your ass
>>22024144
It's a bar with video games in it. Dave and Busters was around for years before "barcades" became trendy. I will continue to enjoy a beer while playing Time Crisis
>>
>>22025153
>Dave and Busters
>Time Crisis
I fucking wish. The one near me is filled with the absolute worst alphoomer trash imaginable. There's no real games left. House of the Dead? Jurassic Park? Time Crisis? LOL! Have fun playing Candy Crush on a giant iPad. I don't think they even had fucking skeeball anymore. The beers were $12 too. Miserable, soul-draining experience, and I'd been there as a kid when they had genuine kino like a shooting gallery.

Alcohol is by far the highest margin item sold in any place that sells alcohol. Are you actually retarded?
>>

There’s a big difference between dave and buttfuckers and these little independent joints. They’re going after a different customer base

>>
>>22025168
Ugh. That sounds shitty. Sorry it was so disappointing anon. There is one of those bar arcades about 45 minutes from my house and even though it is a bit cramped they have all the classics. And the beers are 8-10$ for most of them, same with their mixed drinks. They even have some snacks that range from 3-6$, mini pizzas and ramen cups and such. I don't make it a habit of going there but if you've got 40$ you can play 10$ worth of games, get a snack and a good buzz. It's breddy decent.
>>22025200
True, I guess there's that
>>
>>22025193
Why dont alcohol only bars print money then? All alcohol profits from customers are stolen from the wagie bartenders drinking on the job because they make 12 dollars a hour. Dumping sysco slop into a fryer and selling it 4x what it cost actually makes the business money in the long run, no matter how many french fries the wagies eat on the job.

>>22024309
Some machines are gaining value, the million big buck hunter and golden tee games out there aren't worth anything.
>>
>>22025193
>Are you actually retarded?
not him but yes i am
>>
>>22024096
cause an arcade that sells alcohol is better than a bar that has an arcade

If I'm out at a bar there's a chance I'm here because I'm going somewhere else that night and don't want to stick around playing pinball.
>>
There was a nice bar in my hometown that bought the building next door and turned it into a small arcade about 5 years ago. That seemed like the perfect degree of seperation. Playing pinball and skeeball drunk is fun.
>>
>>22024140
Couldn't help but notice all those seething replies. They all called you a fag but not one of them called you a liar.
>>
Only people with paid off mortgages can afford going out these days. Cheap pisswasser costs more than double imperial hazy flat white IPA galaxy hopped beer did in 2019.
>>
>>22024132
keep poppin those estrogen pills “bro”
>>
>>22024096
The ones still around were arcades first and perhaps had some drinks available second. Electric Starship Arcade near me doing better than ever.
>>
>>22025326
Nope, USA. Maryland, specifically. And looks like I was partially wrong, you can get a whole pizza for 12$ and 3 options of sandwiches at 8$ each. But most of the other food is between 3-6$.
They also close to anyone under 21 at 8pm.
>>22025346
He is lying, it's pretty self evident to someone who spends time outside of their home for more than several hours.
/pol/ doesn't have the reach it thinks it does. Delusions of grandeur are common from people who haven't accomplished much

Prices at 8-Bit Dork's arcade are pretty reasonable.
>>
Always love when people say it was all for hipsters & lefties when the only people that ever invited me & actually wanted to go were my hyper normal friends, the types that "really loved the 80s" as a kid.

Plus people camp skee-ball & pinball & those are the only games worth a damn.
>>
>>22024130

>>
i don't get why you'd do alcohol at an arcade when the target audience of arcade games is ostensibly children
>>
>>22025695
Because it's a concept invented by manchildren, for manchildren. Bars are for men and arcades are for children. Combine the two and it's the perfect place for a manchild to frequent.

it really is, huh? i hardly see them anymore, but the culture war is far from over, it doesnt end until israel is dissolved, the united nations is dissolved, and whites control the financial sector and entertainment industry. long way to go
>>
>>22024096
For me I got sick of the poorly serviced classic pinball machines. I don't understand why barcades would spend thousands on classic tables like Addams Family and Star Trek and never have them serviced. Actually a lot of the cabinets tend to be in bad shape too. Selling overpriced drinks and shitty food to drunk mongoloids who see pinball and arcade as a novelty is a slap in the face to people like me who grew up in real arcades.

Plus you can't get coke and other drugs at home, you can't find coke whores at home, you can't get in screaming matches with strangers about which Megadeth album is best, you can't black out and come to at 4 am in a strangers apartment miles from your home surrounded by people you don't know drinking and doing coke, you can't lead on gay guys for free bathroom bumps at home, you can't play real pinball tables at home, the list goes on and on.

i would go to one if:
1. it were nearby (none near me)
2. it had a decent number of nerdy girls (doubtful)

That kind of lifestyle only appeals to two kinds of people though, the lowest common denominator normie, and a smarter guy who thinks that sort of hedonism is how all normies live. Everyone should try it once but you shouldn't talk about it as if it's something you do regularly because after the first time it's cringe.
>>
>>22024096
most japanese round 1's are technically barcades and i think it works because the otaku gamer area is completely separated from the drinking/bowling/darts area.
>>
>>22024199
Next Level in HIllsboro bests it in every respect. I don't believe they sell booze but you can leave and come back to get some on your own.
>>
I stopped going to these places because the last time I was at galloping ghost there was cum in the coin return slot of the ninja turtles game
