>literally made by just grinding peanuts and nothing else
>tastes completely different than just straight eating roasted or raw peanuts somehow
what kind of magic is this?
>>
>>22027319
is there a single brand that doesnt mix its "peanut" butter with palm oil or some other shit to save costs?
bought some for cooking and there was an oily film on top after storing it, the fuck is this shit
>>
>>22027324
peanuts are composed of about 50% oil by weight, without some kind of emulsifying agent, it's normal for the oil and solids to separate over time.
>>
>>22027319
>tastes completely different than just straight eating roasted or raw peanuts somehow
But it doesn't. Sure there's a creamy texture, but that's it.
>>
>>22027324
make it yourself, retard
>>
>>22027328
Thanks ChatGPT
>>
The grinding process brings out the oil.
>>
>>22027328
>it's normal for the oil and solids to separate over time
its not for peanut butter but thanks for clarifying that youre copypasting chatgpt answers like the dumb cattle you are

it's not to save costs. adding hydrogenated oils to peanut butter started as a way to improve its texture. the guy who invented this process sold it to Peter Pan, then went on to found Skippy, where he claims to have improved on the original technique. he also marketed the very first crunchy peanut butter. the history of peanut butter is very fascinating.
>>
>>22027348
>it's not to save costs
bullshit, thats what theyre trying to tell you to sell their crap
i just want peanut, no palm oil, no flavors and no additives beyond salt, like what i got 10 years ago in a standard supermarket which didnt separate into layers like it does now

both of you shut the fuck up. I didn't use AI and yes my comment is correct. fucking retard on this website I swear...
>>
>>22027357
real peanut butter doesnt separate even if you store it for months
>>
>>22027353
>didnt separate into layers
brother you are literally describing the effect of hydrogenated fats on peanut butter. that is literally why they add them.

It does tho.
>>
>>22027363
okay, again
i DONT want anything but peanut
the shit they ADDED was the reason this it separated into layers, i DONT want that
it was perfect before, they added crap to cut costs, therefore it separated in storage, comprende?
>>
>>22027324
Teddie peanut butter
I like the chunky
>>
>>22027370
>shit they ADDED was the reason this it separated into layers, i DONT want that
i think you are mistaken and possibly touched
>>
>>22027344
You stupid fucking retard.
Seperation is normal, inevitable, for REAL peanut butter made with nothing but peanuts.

The only peanut butter that doesn't seperate is the ultraprocessed shit loaded up with sugar, palm oil, and chemicals to appeal to smooth brained dipshits who know nothing about real food amd think the seperation means it spoiled.
>>
>>22027344
if the peanut butter is very freshly ground, maybe. grinding it releases the oil and over time it'll separate more.

>>22027353
peanut butter that uses palm oil can still have some very slight separation, but it's much less than peanut butter with just peanuts and salt. the peanut butter that really doesn't separate uses hydrogenated oil but that shit is terrible for you and you shouldn't be eating it.
>>
>>22027374
>have peanut butter with peanuts, salt
>no oil film on top
>have "modern" peanut butter with palm oil, molasses, sugar, thickener
>oil film on top
yeah sure bro

the next morning there's a layer of oil on top

>to stave off complaints from people that don't know pure peanut pb separates wegmans puts the need to stir right into the name and description
desu i prefer jif, the dubious ingredients list is worth the taste and texture
>>
>>22027324
When I first saw oil in my peanut butter I thought it was saliva or something and wouldn’t eat it.
>>
OP is samefagging HARD
>>
>>22027360
All oils separate without emulsifiers like soy lecithin and corn starch. Natural peanut butter separates and doesn't have emulsifiers.
>>
>>22027344
>>22027353
>>22027360
You are so embarrassing, shut the fuck up you annoying little uneducated child.

>>22027399
I bought some organic peanut butter to make some peanut-butter bars and had to spend about 10 minutes stirring that shit. Just ended up using Jiff the next time around.
>>
>>22027411
i like natural peanut butter but hate stirring it. i buy the smaller jars of it even if it's a little more expensive per serving because it's easier to stir.
>>
What's the least food sperg way to have non separating peanut butter. Stirring in oil sucks
>>
>>22027319
>add sugar

damn it's that easy
>>
>>22027541

disgusting
>>
>>22027496
freshly made or with palm oil
>>
>>22027496
Try it not stirred, then.
>>
>>22027399
there's nothing really dubious about commercial peanut butter ingredient lists unless you're some anti-seed oil schizo. hydrogenated oil is just regular oil they add hydrogen to so it becomes solid at room temp. the rest is just sugar or molasses and salt.
>>
>>22027496
Pour the oil off (not my problem) and just use the pure peanut better.
>>
>>22027417
after the first big stir you can store the jar upside down to make it harder for oil to reseparate at the top, it barely needs 15 seconds of stirring each time after that
>>
>>22027554
>hydrogenated oil is just regular oil they add hydrogen to so it becomes solid at room temp.
hydrogenation also creates trans fats that kill people. hundreds of thousands of people are still dying every year from it. if you need peanut butter with added oil to keep it stable then only get ones with palm oil.
>>
>>22027344
Even if you're buying Kraft peanut-flavoured confectioner's sugar and xanthan gum spread, it's still going to eventually start separating. If you buy or make straight peanut butter (roasted peanuts, maybe some salt) it will quite quickly turn into peanut concrete with a protective layer of peanut oil on top. If you skim the oil, you will not salvage the concrete-like mass of peanut solids beneath it.

How many effete limpwrists browse here that stirring your peanut butter for 10 seconds before using it is a demanding task? Holy shit
>>
>>22027623
it can take minutes to do the initial stir depending on how separated it is and how big the jar is. don't even try to pretend like that's not a big deal.
>>
>>22027644
If you're leaving it for that long, just leave it as peanuts and blend to order. You don't use enough peanut butter to require a litre of fully separated hyper-allergenic road repair compound.
>>
>>22027649
sometimes it just comes like that from the store, some jars are more separated than others
>>
>>22027623
My thoughts exactly. My 80 year old arthritis ridden grandma stirs her natural peanut butter with no problem. Sounds like they need a Soibot type stirrer for their little emaciated limp wrists.
>>
>>22027324
Costco. The smuckers natural peanut butter with the glass jar also doesn't add anything besides some salt

I wish /ck/ wouldn't try and push their cringe ideologies on me
>>
>>22027895
Yeah seconding Smuckers. I was surprised because their jams and jellies are all full of HFCS, but their peanut butter is just peanuts and salt. Really good PB.
>>22027961
This stuff is OK in a pinch and also good for adding to milkshakes or smoothies. But I prefer regular peanut butter.
>>
>>22028775
Peanuts are naturally vegan. There is no frankenfood or fake meat. What's wrong with that? Or are you just so sensitive that even seeing the word "vegan" triggers you?
>>
>>22028782
Ok buddy enjoy your vegan "food"
>>
>>22028785
I got some me-nut butter for ye. Certified non vegan.
>>
>>22027324
teddy peanut butter to my knowledge is the only brand that isn't bullshit. sadly it costs $15 p jar unless you live in massachusetts
>>
>>22027370
You're not understanding. There are plenty of brands of peanut butter that contain nothing but peanuts and salt. But if they do not contain an emulsifier, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE NATURAL SEPARATION OF THE OILS AND SOLIDS. This is inevitable. I don't care if you think it "used to be different." You're wrong. You're making yourself look even more ignorant by not conceding the fact that you're misremembering.
>>
>>22028816
>sadly it costs $15 p jar unless you live in massachusetts
Pic related out in Ohio.
>>
>>22029145
He's baiting you, moron.
>>22029149
Not bad. I'm from MA and grew up up eating super chunky Teddie. It's the best widely available peanut butter. It's just peanuts and salt.
>>
>>22029168
I like the Kirkland brand too. Peanuts and salt. Although I think they only make creamy.

Oh shit I never realized Teddie was a local brand
>>
>>22029170
I don't shop at Costco so I can't comment. But Teddie still has its factory in MA and it isn't owned by a giant corporation. I like supporting a real American company that hasn't sold out and been fucked with like so many have been. Teddie has more integrity than those Ben and Jerry homos who sold out to a giant corp for millions but still pretend to be smol bean Vermont hippies fighting the man.
>>
>>22029176
The factory is in Everett by the old Meadow Glen Mall. There's a big Teddie sign on the building.
>>
>>22029184
Oh damn, actually now that you mention it, I had a friend who used to live in Chelsea and I saw the factory near there but totally forgot till now
>>
>>22029180
Yeah, all good points. I also like that Teddy donates to Best Buddies.
>>
>>22029180
It's funny you mention Ben & Jerry's. I grew up about a half hour from their headquarters and lived there for 21 years. It's sad what's happened to that brand. When I was a kid you were either eating creemees or Ben & Jerry's. Other ice cream might as well have not existed. I tried some not long ago and it was gritty and not nearly as rich and creamy as I remember.
>>
>>22029227
Yeah, BJs used to be the premium cool ice cream brand that was really good in the 90s other than Hagen Daz which was kind of stuffy and hoity toity. All the other big ice cream brands back then were gross and full of stabilizers and chemicals. After Blow and Joe sold out the quality went to shit which is always the case. That's why I appreciate the integrity the Teddie brand has.
