I was cutting my butter in cubes for my recipe and found these small dots inside. I dont think is a fungus because fungus grow on the edges first. The edges were just fine but these were deep inside of it tho. I removed them but Im scared of using the butter now. Does anyone know what this is?
Unless it is is part of the wrapper you scraped into it cutting then throw it out.
>>22027449This, don't take the risk.
>>22027430eww, grab that shit and put it in a ziplock bag inside the freezer and call the company. they would want to know what is this and how to prevent it in the future.
>>22027430stop being a pussy and eat it. 200 years ago people ate bread with worms and were happy.

>>22027458Does that look like worms to you?

>>22027430>mold/fungus grows on edges firstThis isn't true though, if something is infected, it can absolutely grow from the inside out

>>22027430I had those flecks on a loaf of Kerry Gold a few months ago and my mom threw it away and now she won't let Kerry Gold in the house anymore. She found some organic butter brand at Whole Foods and now I have to eat it and it isn't as good as Kerry. How do I convince her to let us eat Kerry Gold butter again?
OP dropped it on his dirty fucking floor and is taking everyone for a ride with this shit thread
>>22027555You have to be 18 to post on 4chan
>>22027555checkedwhy are you still living with your mom and why does she has a say on what brand of butter YOU eat? Are you underage? You know you need to be 18 and older to post here?

>>22027589>>22027588Listen, I don't need to hear it from you guys. I'm living at home right now to help my elderly mother and she pays for the groceries so I have to get what she wants. All I want to know is how to reassure her that Kerry Gold butter is safe to eat and that was a one time thing.
>>22027599>trans-thread seething
>>22027600you cant convince olds of anything when it comes to food. just find a similar or better brand than kerrygold and switch to that

I opened a brand new big bag of king arthur flour one time and it was full of weevils lol. It was a big 25lb bag, too. Threw it all out lmao. Shit happens
>>22028276I don't understand why men are unwilling to get refunds. Like is getting your money's worth somehow effeminate or something?
>>22028289because its a pain in the ass or you dont have a recipt. youre either just wasting your time for a fee bucks or you jump through hoops and you still cannot return it. its food, not like a pair of defective headphones you can put back in the box and take back for store credit or something.
>>22027430>I dont think is a fungus because fungus grow on the edges first. It doesn't have to. I had a stick of butter in the freezer for a while because I forgot about it. When I found it again, thawed it, and started slicing it to put on some bread, I found a wedge of black mold growing on the inside.>what this is?That said, yours looks like it's been rubbed against some burnt carbonized stuff. My guess is that the butter factory had a small fire and either the carbonized stuff was floating around or had drifted down onto the production surface and got embedded into the butter stick.Like the others said, toss it out, unless you want to take it back to the store for a refund of course.
>>22027489He prob bites his nails
>>22028289Post tits, sweetie.I have no problem taking stuff back for a refund. In fact, I've re-purchased stuff and taken the bad stuff back on the new receipt because my dementia-addled mother kept throwing out the receipts. After she threw out an entire bag full of camera and computer equipment that I'd just bought, I finally had to get a lock for my bedroom door just so she couldn't go in and throw out stuff at random. She still says "but it was in a plastic bag, so it was garbage!" <facepalm/>

>>22028289I don't do it because it's just not worth the time. That's a good several minutes out of my day that I'd much rather be doing something else with, so I'll take the loss to prevent losing that time.I don't send food back at restaraunts, either. If I'm ordering food, I'm hungry, and I'd rather eat a different meal now than wait another 10-30 minutes for the meal I ordered. The other day I ordered some takeout, then went to the park to go eat it. There I realized they forgot the drink I paid for. I just let it be. I'm not gonna drive 5 minutes back to the store, ask for me drink, wait for them to make it, then drive 5 minutes back. All while my food is getting cold. I'd rather just deal with it, let it be, and get a drink from my water bottle. It's not about getting what you paid for, or making sure things were done right, it's about making things as enjoyable as possible and not getting riled up unnecessarily.
>>22028289It's a time thing. I live in a rural area and the closest store is a 25 min drive. With gas being $4.79 a gallon, is it really worth my time to waste money and an hour of time to return a $3 bag of onions with a couple rotten ones hidden inside?

>>22027600So you can't buy your own butter? PLEASE tell me you're not unemployed.
>>22028381You can always take them back on your next regular trip.I returned a bag of rotting apples to Costco about a month after I bought it. Five out of the nine were already in bad shape at time of purchase. I ate the other four. I ended up buying two more bags before I found enough defective apples to justify (to myself) returning the shitty ones. The chick at the return desk was like "WTF?" but all of the ones I returned had had those big insect bites that started rotting spots in them at time of purchase. It's not like I bought bags of good apples and then just waited for them to turn to mush before taking them back.
