In spite of the complaints of bad pricing, middling quality, sketchy claims, or exaggeration of aroma notes, some of the decried/denounced sort of vendors seem to have at least some actually okay products after personally getting some to try. I won some cool tester freebies from MeiLeaf once some time back, and they offered to include anything I'd want to buy in the free shipping. Four teas in total: two are not sold afaik, but the two I bought (on sale) were "Sultan's Quill" (Da Ye Zhong Fengqing) and "Purple Bud" (Yi Sheng Zi Ya). Both genuinely delightful and surprisingly complex. Perhaps these journal note excerpts may sound kind of weird, but I thought I'd share them anyway:
>Purple Bud:
>Dry leaf has an amazing candy-like stone fruit aroma, closest to peach and reminding me of Starburst chews. Cream; peaches and cream. Subtle floral quality, maybe like osthmanthus but lighter; lilies?
>Wet leaf has notes more like a more intense stewed peaches and cream, linen, and honey or perhaps rock sugar.
Then also,
>Sultan's Quill:
>Dry leaf has notes of freshly baked wheat biscuits, tomato vine, charcoal (yet not smoky), and a fairly subtle fruit jam (apricot?) quality.
>Wet leaf leans into toasted grains/crackers and biscuits, roasted nuts. Now a more clear apricot jam quality and coffee come out, especially as the aromatic build and infusions to on.
Family also gifted me some lapsang souchong from "The Spice & Tea Exchange" months ago. Notes:
>Dry leaf smells of sweet smoked wood (pine), light BBQ sauce, sunflower seeds, and subtle bergamot.
>Wet leaf experience is similar, but lifts the smoked wood note towards smoky pinecones, maybe reminding me slightly of matches as well.
I don't necessarily recommend any of these vendors broadly-speaking, and the price/g is less than ideal, so they wouldn't be my first choice. I'd rather try buying from Quiche, or good old Chawangshop for my tastes. Though, I like all of these teas, and am grateful to have been able to try them.

I've found if you are one of those people who eat food, the taste of what non liquid food you are eating or what's currently in your mouth will affect what the tea tastes like. Sometimes it's best to swallow your hard food first before clearing out your mouth then having a sip of tea.
>>

Tea should be illegal because it often has drugs in it like caffeine. All these threads just push people towards unhealthy drug using pracitices. Same with beer, coffee, whiskey and other alcohol threads. It's just some kind of way for addicts to get others approval that just feeds their drug habit. "Oh no, I'm not a druggie... this is a oolong free range yadda yadda brewed with an exquisite yadda yadda and appreciated in a royal doulton cup with hand painted periwinkles. I'm a connoisseur"

Yeah OK. We know why you drink that shit like you do coffee or alcohol.

I've read in a teaDB blog post that was comparing 7542 Dayi productions that 2007 was a crappy year for tea in general. D
o you think that 2007 material is best avoided for that reason or is the difference in quality not as noticeable as a tea reviewer might make it out to be? I haven't had a tea produced in 2007 yet.

Tnt supermarket. It is a tnt house brand apparently. This one was 11.99 for 100grams.
They have two more green teas same price but 200g and 250g.
I googled it and apparently it cuts out middleman or whatever so the tea punches above its price.
I was expecting tannic and astringent tea but this was decent. No complaints especially since I am not a green tea drinker, just don’t taste like garbage is more than enough. I also have their jin jun mei which scratches the itch very well too.

The jars of teas, or in this case, are a house brand from TnT Supermarket. Tnt is a huge Chinese supermarket in Canada. The chinese community here is huge and very wealthy. >/ck/ - Food & Cooking
>/a/ - Anime & Manga
Its a pretty simple system.

no point engaging tourists or schizos. it just encourages them. and they do not care about tea

He's been doing the same shit for weeks in /ctg/.

/ck/ is for shitposting, and always has been. That why anime is appropriate here.

>tie guan yin should be quite green if ur stuff is dark it's factory rejects that someone has tried to "save" by incinerating
Maybe in some cases, but imo the best tgy is good material with a med-heavy roast. The neon green stuff is meh
>>
>>22127386
what would u consider a heavy roast tho?
the stuff I drink daily is fairly dark green not neon at all.
the bad shit I'm referring to is almost black and tastes like sea dyke but worse

Liquor that's not green at all, ranging from pale to dark brown, usually sold with a description/disclaimer that it's heavily roasted/traditionally processed because most people expect tgy to be green. Like picrel from verdant (haven't had this years but I did have some last year), or w2t 2nd batch three spot guan yin (sold out). It gets pretty dark if you brew it for long enough.
I've never had sea dyke but I've had over roasted tea and yeah it's bad, but I don't think it's representative of all heavy roast tgy.

the liquor in ur pic looks roughly like the one I drink daily.
it gets darker if u steep it for a long time, even sometimes fairly dark brown.
my leaves are greener tho.
>50g $14.50
yikes
>I've never had sea dyke but I've had over roasted tea
then u know what sea dyke tastes like just it also has a hint of licorice and a weird mild after note of cheap purple flavour blunt wraps

>any brand besides Femboy Brand Yorkshire?
>I drink it while thinking of ultra fem femboys, with shy girlcocks as a daddy. Totally hetero tea session i've got their.
I've drank a couple yorkshire, never had such homosexual thoughts - how could I increase the probability of such homosexual thoughts?

>the liquor in ur pic looks roughly like the one I drink daily.
I wouldn't say that's "quite green" or green at all but gotcha
>yikes
Yeah verdant is kinda pricey. Your description of sea dyke sounds absolutely disgusting lol
