God damn, I can't believe what I've been missing. I've always tried cooking chicken breast in a pan on the stove because that's just how I cook 99% of the time and never fuck with the oven. It always turns out just ok at best. Today I baked a chicken breast for the first time and it was the easiest thing I've ever done and it was the best chicken breast I've ever had. Seasoned it with Lowry's and some cajun seasoning, into a 400 degree oven until internal temp is somewhere between 155 and 160 (took mine about 25 minutes), rest for ten minutes, and easily the best chicken I've ever made at home. Perfectly cooked, juicy, tasted great. What other secrets is the oven hiding from me?
>>22146664You did brown it in the pan first to kill the surface Salmonella, right?
>>22146673Heat goes from out to in
>>22146673No, I'm on a cleanse
>>22146664Try cubing and skewering chicken and cook it under your ovens broiler for tasty quick kebabs at home.
>>22146678If it went from in to out he wouldn't need to brown it, retard

Let it cool and GOTDAMN it was the best chicken I ever ate. What other secrets the white man hiding from me, cuh?
>>22146664>Seasoned it with Lowry's and some cajun seasoning,Holy fuck I hate when trashy poor pieces of shit try to cook.

>>22146664>the best chicken breast I've ever had.> easily the best chicken I've ever made at home. That's not really saying anything because you clearly have no idea how to cook.
>>22146664Hope you shared some with the rest of the trailer park
>>22146664Pan fried chicken breast is way better. Just flatten it out or butterfly it first so it cooks evenly on medium heat. That's all you have to do.

>>22146664>What other secrets is the oven hiding from me?Bake whole unpeeled potatoes in the oven before turning them into mashed potatoes. The secret of good mashed potatoes is low moisture. So this has much better results than cooking them.
>>22146684Works well with every meat. At least white meats. Pic is pork roasted under the broiler.
>>22147218The actual secret to good mashed potatoes is ricing them or passing them through a sieve. I've found little difference between oven cooked potatoes or boiled potatoes when making mash except boiling takes 15 minutes while roasting can take an hour plus.

>>22147218>the secret of making the 2nd most liquid form of potatoes is low moisturenigga you're fucking retarded
I haven't made baked chicken breast in years. It's almost always bad.
>>22147278Looks really dry
>>22146664I know right? Tuck in some root veg around them next time
I had a George Foreman grill in the early 2000s that I used exclusively for cooking chicken breasts. It was amazing.
>>22147218>>22147323I like chunky mashed potatoes, riced reminds me of the instant mashed that my mom used to 'make'.
>>22148014not him but you're fucking retarded. you add the moisture afterwards. water doesn't add anything in terms of flavor or texture, that's what dairy is for.
>>22146673I forget how often rotisserie chicken just kills people.
>>22148045crust generally is
>>22148322the water isn't for adding flavor or texture moron, it's a heat exchange medium so your potatoes actually finish cooking in this century
>>22148851okay idiot but the water ends up in the potato doing absolutely fuckall for the taste and reducing the amount of dairy you can add to achieve the right consistency. if you want potatoes that fast then you might as well use dehydrated shit and suffer like you deserve.
>>22148935>okay idiot but the water ends up in the potatono it doesn't, are you actually retarded? you boil the potatoes until they're knife tender, drain the water, then mash with some butter and milkdon't tell me you're mashing them in the boiling water like a fucking haplogroup-n
>>22146664Wait till you try this, it will flip your taste buds upside down
>>22148935The other guy is right. Cooking the potatoes in the oven for 1 h isn't better than just boiling them for 20 minutes. Just cut them open so the steam can escape. If you use the right type of potato you can't get a difference. Even French chefs like Escoffier or Bocuse who go the extra mile for every nuance just boil the potatoes for mash.
>>22149320my mom used to make this all the time, she wasn't the best cook but she did brine the breast overnight before making it and it turned out so good
>>22149337I prefer baked for mash. They absorb more butter and cream because they're drier than boiled. Cooking evolves over time and people learn better ways to do things. Acting like 19th century recipes are the end all be all of cooking is foolish.
>>22149580>Cooking evolves over time and people learn better ways to do thingsThey tried as some of their recipes call for baked potatoes. Maybe they just weren't as snobby as you or didn't imagine differences that aren't there. >19th century It's 20th century.
>>22149632The difference between baked and boiled mashed potatoes definitely exists. Baked potatoes have much less moisture than boiled potatoes. Of course that difference is going to affect the final product. And being pedantic about dates means you have no argument. I wasn't being snobby either, that's why I said "I prefer" instead of declaring one way better than the other.
>>22149410Yep Shake In Bake is good stuff.
>>22147323Do you rice then and then whip them? Otherwise I’m very suspicious of the texture that would produce
>>22149307the potatoes didn't absorb any water? don't reply to me or my wife's son ever again.
Just admit you willingly sacrifice flavor for convenience
