have you heard of this "Global Tasting Event" that's gonna be hosted by Hoffman on October 3rd. >The project takes a single lot of coffee and processes it four different ways, isolating fermentation as the one variable that changes from cup to cup. Everything else, the origin, the variety, the harvest, stays exactly the same. >1. Mechanically Demucilaged (The Control): No fermentation. This profile relies entirely on the terroir, growing practices, and genetic varietal characteristics of the coffee.>2. Wild Fermentation: A traditional 48-hour submerged fermentation relying on local, wild microbes to naturally remove the mucilage.>3. Lactobacillus Inoculated Fermentation: A 48-hour submerged fermentation driven by Lactobacillus bacteria, here, targeted bacteria boost organic acids for brighter, more complex cups.>4. Yeast Inoculated Fermentation: A 48-hour submerged fermentation using Saccharomyces yeast, illustrating how yeast enhances flavor precursors to impact body and structural complexity.i guess some local roasters are doing preorders of the same beans in a sampler pack so you can taste along. could be interesting.

>>22155311The C3 is fine. The only two options in that $70 range is the C3 and Q-air. The C3 has better build quality with the metal body, but the Q-air has a better burr. Small conicals like that only need a kilo or two of seasoning before they perform their best. And if you get tired of it you can always wrench off the bottom plate holding the ring burr and try installing some other 38mm burrset like pic related.Regarding the aeropress just experiment and do whatever tastes best, since you can independently adjust every variable with it. I found that I proffered very coarse grinds (like 1500+ microns), but that was with an Encore.

Went to a pourover (V60) course a few days ago. Pretty cool to do, got to taste some different techniques and settings back to back to really see the difference it made. Also got to try a bunch of different beans right after each other, some were very underdeveloped and I had a really hard time getting the taste which made sense because of the roast.Biggest takeaways were keeping the V60 warm makes a difference, pouring technique makes a huge difference and that I might have to try adding minerals to my water.Overall I feel like it was money better spent than just buying more gear

Or a specific ethiopian landrace transplanted to central and south america?>when it is not gesha by their own admissionBecause it looks and tastes like gesha.>There is not a single Gesha type. Most seeds came from CATIE and the plot was reported from the first plantings in Panama as being mixed, with a bronze-leaf upright type, and green-leaf compact type. (Referring to the color of the new young leaf on the plant.) Since then, and it’s spread all over Latin America and across the world, the variety has become only more unclear in terms of traceability. Indeed it tended to hybridize over time with other varieties planted around it, and the clarity of the cup character changing along with it. (Arabica is self pollinating and does not tend to hybridize but in time, and with many instances of planting, it will). ~sweet maria's library

Question for coffee drinkers here. Honest now joking replies only please. Why do many of you still use ceramic mugs to drink your coffee instead of switching to a double wall vacuum insulated mug that keeps it hotter for much much longer? You won't need to keep using the microwave saving many kWh over the years? Also, you won't burn your fingers accidentally and won't shatter if you drop it.
>>22158291I just fill my cup with less coffee

>>22158299None of you can ever give me a logical reason that makes sense. It's not bait, it's actually a better way to drink hot and cold beverages. I've asked this like every year or two and always get the same nonsensical replies. What's wrong with a strong metal mug that keeps your coffee hot? If you can't answer that with all truthfulness, don't reply at all.
>>22158298And?
>>22158291>double wall vacuum insulated mug that keeps it hotter for much much longerIts hard to taste very hot or very cold things. If you're not drinking shitty coffee, cooler coffee tastes better than piping hot. I drink out of crystal, mouthblown glass, and porcelain. If I want a hotter cup, I make another cup.
>>22158302and what?
>>22158307This makes some sense. I prefer that the temperature of my coffee or tea remain at near my ideal point for longer. Sometimes I even have to use the bathroom in the morning and my father from my youth would get into something and come back to lukewarm coffee and toss it. I know quite a few who really dislike lukewarm coffee. So let's say it's too hot like you say. Just take the top off and it will cool pretty quick until it's your ideal temperature. Then put that cover back on and it will keep it like that longer. I really am not trying to bait here and this has been a multi-year thing for me and all I've ever come up with is you have an attraction to a certain cup or like doing things the old way perhaps as some sort of homage to your parents when you first started drinking coffee.
>>22158311Ok you're drinking it right now. I don't see why that matters. You can drink it all at once with the vac insulated mug but you have the option to extend the warmth of it if you need to go do something in a pinch.
>>22158312>Just take the top offAre you drinking in the car? Are you a child with a sippy cup? There's no need for a lid unless you're disabled.> I prefer that the temperature of my coffee or tea remain at near my ideal point for longer.Buy an Ember mug. Set the temp you want. It stays there.
>>22158200coffee NOWjust woke up and brushed my teeth and made a coffee so i cant really comment on the tastebasically just normal dark roast viet drip coffee but it was too hot so a bit of milk toothis coffee is just for function, ill have a real coffee in a few hours.probably a burundi.
soy chai latte for me
>>22158312first of all - and this is a serious answer, not bait or meanspirited - if you're asking this question all the time and never getting "the right answer" you are on the autism spectrum. so get tested and take steps to fix that, as it's certainly affecting many areas of your life besides coffee.back to your actual question, what kind of metal are we talking about? if you're not using 314L stainless or titanium you are affecting the flavor of your coffee. coffee drinkers dont want that. metal also looks low class and doesnt feel good on the lips. not to mention that most people here are probably brewing a single serving of coffee of around 150-300mL each time, so there is no need to keep it very hot since it will be consumed quickly.i sincerely hope this helps.
>>22158250they probably use a 50/50 arabica/robusta blend
>>22158323>314Lmeant 316L, sorry.
>>22158258>g>oz>g>ozawful
>>22158291it takes longer to get to drinking temp not good if i want to be drinking right away
>>22158322does that have coffee innit?
what the fucks got you all riled up on a tuesday?
>>22158334
2 heaping spoons of instant coffee dissolved in the last dregs of water from a warm plastic gallon jug that was sitting in my car in 106 degrees
>>22158318>>22158318No, but I can. My mug has a fat base so it's not meant for a car really. Why would I want an electric mug? I just want my coffee/tea whatever for like an hour or so in the morning. Not all day. My girlfriends mug is a desktop mug and can even cover the little hole keeping it warmer. Hers is newer though.
>>22158344Gross its not even a Yeti. Wish I hadn't responded earnestly now.
>>22158343
your milk powder, anon?
>>22158323>autismLol no. I've switched much of my tableware to double wall vacuum. This has a lid and keeps soup hotter and prevents ice cream from melting. It's just better. Some are 304s I think a few might be higher but even 304s have great heat resistance. I'm not using them in intense lab or marine applications so it's more than plenty. They were designed for this application.
>not autistic>yeah my cereal bowls are double walled steel
This is one of the most confusing schizoposters I've seen in a long time
gotta keep them thangs cold
>>22158345Don't get snobbish. That's part of my gripe against some of you old style coffee drinkers. You look down on things like this that are in nearly all metrics superior. OK you can't use the microwave, oh well. I don't need to with this.
>>22158353Yup. I like my cereal milk cold. Sorry if that's too hard for you to understand.
>>22158359>old style coffee drinkersCurrently drinking a 96hour anaerobic ferment microlot out of a 1.8lb crystal rocks glass.https://norlanglass.com/products/rauk-heavy-tumbler?variant=39433147744326>>22158363Yeah its called sensory sensitivity. Very common on the spectrum.
put some ice innit
>>22158358And hot. Your choice. >>22158354The fact you put up mental barriers to understanding why double wall vacuum stainless is great for hot coffee and cold drink applications only reinforces to me my original hypothesis is that coffee enthusiasts are not willing to change and stuck in "tradition" Which is fine I guess. It's just taking alot of time for people to adapt. I bought some 13 years ago right when they changed from glass coffee vac insulated to metal.
>>22158335Saturn is in retrograde
>>22158368And should I do that and ruin my scotch too? Dilute all my hard and soft drinks?
you're supposed to use the stuff that's meant to be diluted
>only reinforces to me my original hypothesisCompletely not autistic. Been working on this hypothesis for years now. Can't understand this his preference isn't everyone elses.

>>22158372>The fact you put up mental barriers to understandingIt's metal barriers, two of them, with a vacuum in between. A double wall vacuum metal hat that protects me from your schizo rays
for me, it's titanium
>>22158367>he prefers his ice cream meltedLol. How silly you sound. Oh wait, you're just willing to let it melt and ruin the experience since you have an inherent hatred of new tech that helps solve those problems. If I am autistic then you are a hardlining curmudgeon. Will try back next year. Thanks all! :)
triple walled
>>22158391>an inherent hatred of new tech>Invented by James Dewar in 1892, the vacuum flask consists of two flasks, placed one within the other and joined at the neck.Good god he is retarded.

>>22158391you actually mark your calander to post in these threads?
>>22158352it's not about heat resistance it's about reactivity to the acid in coffee.
>>22158385god I love yeti mugs
>>2215841128s have better rolling resistance than 25s o algo
>>22158413You think a Thermos was a luxury item that only wealthy families could own until the year 2006? Holy shit dude.
>>22158418>it's about reactivity to the acid in coffee
>>22158424The Stanley 1913 is called the 1913 for a reason. Thermos are so widespread and ubiquitous that the name became a genericized trademark in 1963.
>>22158420he's not using a ceramic coated steel mug tho. he's using something base and grotesque.
>>22158427I know. I'm just reiterating to the reiteratard why they're lining coffee mugs with ceramic.
>>22158432>Released in 2016, the Stanley Quencher (sometimes Stanley cup) became popular as a result of influencer marketing campaigns on social media, particularly TikTok.>It is Stanley's most popular item among female customers. You bought a knockoff Yeti marketed to and via young girls on tiktok. Its alright to like it. Its just not the best choice for your acidic coffee.>>22158437https://hikesity.com/blogs/news/why-coffee-tastes-metallic-in-thermos-316l-solution
oh lawd he schizin
at least its not me this time
found some grandma china
should i buy 2 bags of coffee or just 1 bag of coffee
>>22158483Buy 2 bags of different coffees. More variety
>>22158486Buy 2 different cups. More variety
>>22158486why buy one when you can buy two for twice the price, but keep the other one secret?
>>22158486one cup with 2 drinking zones
one of my local roasters has some points system where you get 2x points at certain times of day and at 1000 points you get a free coffee. if i buy just one bag of nice stuff it's almost $25 so i get 500 points, so I'm effectively getting a free bag every 2 or 3 bags.pretty nice i sure hope they dont end it because they realize people are utilizing it correctly.
>>22158240that'll happen. I'm sorry that happened to you. i guess the only thing to do now is buy more gesha
we are attempting to use a moka pot
wow that was fun

>>22158768did it sputter
>>22158799i guess so, i dont really know what that's supposed to look or sound like but toward the end the liquid started looking bubbly and it was kind of making a bubbly bubbling noise.

i just woke up. qrd?

>>22158886there's one small problem

>>22158884too much coffee, and not enough coffee, respectively.
>>22158823i have an electric glasstop stove so it retains some heat making precise temperature control somewhat difficult. so this time i turned the heat off entirely when it started coming out the top. it didnt sputter as strongly this time but there was some small foaming. i took it off and poured but there was still significant water left in the bottom so the brew came out a little too strong.is even a little bit of bubbles bad? how do i do it with no bubbles at all?
>>22159000foam goodbubbles badsputter badhiss badyou dont have to turn it off, you can just physically lift the moka off the stove for a few seconds and it should be on low when the coffee starts flowing until you turn it off entirely which should be when the coffee reaches roughly half way to the spout.
Anyone else drink this just so you can have a proper shit in the morning?

>>22158682>Filter 3 basketWhat's the point of that? Is it basically a zero-fuss flat bottom pour over using an espresso machine?NGL sounds interesting but I'm also unsure if it would be better than an Orea Z1
>>22159838Its a 100% consistent way to batch out filter in 4 minutes with a Decent(or any other machine that can put out like 2ml/s out of the showerhead, flairs don't work)
