I'm getting this today. Seems handy to be able to cook a whole pizza or a large batch of fries without having to shake the basket. No idea if it will be good. What kind of air fryer do you have and what is your favorite thing to cook in it?

>>22162862>Seems handy to be able to cook a whole pizza or a large batch of fries without having to shake the basketRight, a portable oven could never do that.
>>22162862the one I have is different from the ones I see online. it doesn’t have that basket thing for the food, it has these little metal trays. it’s more like a toaster oven. my favorite thing to cook in it is cheez its
>>22162882I like the idea of a basket since I can throw that bitch in the dishwasher. >portable ovenKill yourself you ESL brown faggot.
>>22162890things have different names, even within the natively english-speaking worldplease never communicate with another person for the rest of your miserable existencealso flay yourself
>>22162862I got the cheap-shit WalMart one when it was $25. It's $32 now. It's on the tiny side, no way I could fit a "whole pizza" in it unless it was a pizzabagel or "individual" (read: cook at least two if you don't want to be hungry). But I do like the thing and use it several times a week. Chicken tendies, mostly. Costco used to sell spanakopitas that were great in it. I'm sure I've cooked other stuff in it but I don't remember what. I use baking parchment on the basket so that I don't have to wash it after every use.I wish I could find some keto mozzarella sticks, I'd probably never eat anything else if I could just find some of those. No, the spanakopitas aren't carb-free but they didn't have much. And yes, I'm diabetic, so it matters.
>>22162890I can put my trays in the dishwasher too, though it’s very easy to clean by hand
>>22162862if anyone has recommendations on what brand to buy, im all earspreferably one that has more of a metal construction on the interior, instead of enameled plastic that'll slowly gas me
>>22162862I got one for about $20 at Goodwill. Seems to work ok. No idea what the brand is, would have to dig it out of the pantry to double check. Works alright though. I've noticed it cooks frozen stuff better than the toaster oven, and it seemed like a good idea since it'd cost more than $20 to upgrade to a toaser oven with convection baking>I'm getting this today>$300+ air fryeroh shit nigger what are you doing
>>22162862Basket air fryers are retarded, just get a mini convection oven style one. It's so much better.
Can I cook any actual food with an airfryer? I make stews, steaks, pasta, curries, casseroles, ribs, meatloafs and whatnot. I've always been eluded to buy one, I dunno why, because at the same time I imagine it will just stand there gathering dust. Airfryers seem to be for autists with no imagination just throwing a plain chicken fillet or salmon in there at best and chicken tendies and leftover pizza at worst.
>>22163072They are excellent for reheating leftovers and frozen foods. The closest thing to "real" food I ever tried to make was air frying tofu and chicken wings. It was fine but my stovetop mastery is way better and there is no need for me to try and perfect the air fryer when I can just do that, you know? It's cool to have the option for a lower calorie version of fried stuff though.
>>22163072No, kinda but a good one needs concentrated heat from the pan, no, no, no, kinda, kindaIt's not a cooker, it's hot air. You cannot cook pasta with hot air, and stews thrice as not. Everything involving water is not really suited for it.It's good for things that you can cook crisp in hot air, like chicken tenders, pieces of meat, frozen food etc. I wouldn't waste a steak by using an air fryer. Technically edible but that's the nicest thing you could say about it.
>>22163072anything you could reasonably bake, you can do in an air fryer. it's just a convection oven that heats up faster and maintains its heat more evenly
