New thread since the old one has died. Post your historical shizos, brats, ojisan and shitty elf dads.Old: >>3958020
That's weird. Other threads are still up. Why did the nigewaka one get killed?
Teeeeeeeeeeeeeeest (Rat best boy)
Oh, it finally works for me.
kek Finally some new official Sadamune art
What a beautiful, rare sunny day and I spent it with art browsing on twitter and discussions about chinese cartoons on two different basket weaving boards (still worth it).
>>3962515Same for most of that. But it was muddy as hell here so I don't feel like I missed out much.
i love kunitoki so much im heartbroken he died on the first episode
>>3962606He had potential, I liked his chill behavior too. If westerners cared about this series I would love to see an AU in which either manages to escape or where Godaiin is just slightly less insane and then explore his relationship with Tokiyuki after he eventually meets him again.
>>3963370I miss Nitta and the others
I love nose man
>>3963653He really is Ichikawa's long lost son, isn't he?>>3963727As much as I hate ntr, I can't bring myself to hate him personally.
>>3963751>He really is Ichikawa's long lost son, isn't he?I thought the same. He looks like an unholy mix between Tokiyuki and Ichikawa. Makes me wonder if the latter was also the "favorite boy" of an older samurai when he was a kid, considering his implied sexual preferences.
I miss Shokan
>>3963761I don't know if country samurai were as in to shudo, but if they were I'm sure Mouse would have been popular. Also, what is with all the art of dudes in maid outfits I'm seeing on twitter?
>>3964751Few days ago was the meido day. IIRC you can pronounce May 10ht as mei-do so fanartists love to draw meido fanart then.
>>3964751Meido day!I wish I could read a short spin-off of this particular AU.
Man, I wasn't aware of how good some of the artists are at coloring their artworks since they usually don't do it.
I love it when they're acting like villains
FubuYuki seems to be a more popular ship than I had realized. You'd think Fubuki being absent for so long would put a damper on that, but apparently not. I wonder if it's the age gap that does it?
>>3968410Two reasons I think. First it's Fubuki himself who has a cool (and long-haired) design and this sort of chill, almost aloof personality that fujos tend to be into. Secondly, he is a tragic character turning villain halfway in and many like that too. It simply provides tons of potential for fanlore since it gives him additional layers to make him more complex. Also, fanwork is often the result of cope (albeit in a good way). It's common to see fans being more obsessed with characters that get bad endings than winning heroes because they feel like they have to set things right and create a better outcome for them.It isn't even any of my main pairings (I am more of a team Shinano fag) but I think I understand why it's so popular and I honestly like it too. Especially the art it spawns. Fubuki is getting among the best fanart of ngwk IMO.
>>3968722>feel like they have to set things right and create a better outcome for themI don't know why I hadn't thought of this one. I only recently started learning to draw and this feeling (for a different series) was one of my primary motivations for doing so.
>>3968784Yeah it's the same for me. You often see hype for good series with bittersweet endings lingering around for longer than some for perfect endings because they feel wholly concluded. I usually get my motivation from the desire of setting things right for the characters I like.
I already missed two weekly threads in a row. I blame the posting time. Chapters are usually out at 16:00 GMT+1 but last weeks it was released at 17:00 (probably daylight saving time in the US if they do that) and the thread was made even later so I forgot to check at that time. Anyway, last two chapters were great IMO.
>>3970836I will necrobump harder for you next week.
>>3970839Glad to see that you are still here as well. Wonder if the second season will bring the people back. I noticed that a lot of fandoms disappear once a manga has ended though, even if the end is decent and the anime season good so I hope we will at least get some sort of early teaser for s2 before the manga is finished.
>>3970841>I hope we will at least get some sort of early teaser for s2 before the manga is finishedSame. Those parts are really good too, so I think they would help to secure more long term fans.
>>3970845Yeah. S1 was already great but it's basically the intro arc. And even Shokan and Kiyohara get their development and showndown in the next part so side characters like them might get a bunch of fans if it's done well.
>>3970849I wonder what the season 2 cutoff point will be. The most impactful end point would probably be Tokiyuki's proclaiming his identity. But I could see them maybe stopping at Shokan's defeat instead just based on length.
>>3971274Yeah I always assumed it must be the end of the war with Shinano since ch. 71(?) would be the perfect end with Tokiyuki's identity being revealed and the scene with him and Sadamune. s1 adapted ~33 chapters IIRC, s2 would be 38 then. Sounds doable, considering that some of the chapters in the middle had quite a lot of friendly talking and a few action scenes that could fit into one episode.
Damn Tadayoshi for denying us this.
Also, worst (best) dad is getting a bunch of art thanks to the volume cover.
>>3972681I wish there were more period AU ideas for this series because the pages from the last chapter were cool as fuck. I would also love to see Sadamune interacting with his son. I somehow get the feeling that they would argue all the time.
Man, my entire timeline is just him and Noriaki (now in color), kek
>>3973502I follow mostly shota accounts and even I got a bunch of those two, assuming you're talking about Sadamune and not Kiyohara.
>>3973581Yeah. Sadamune's son incited a lot of artists to do more art it seems. Either the guy alone or together with Sadamune or other Shinano guys. Surprised about the mass of Noriakis though. His popularity will probably grow further when he appears on tv next year (or whenever s2 will be done).Bit disappointed about the lack of Genba art after the face reveal, but maybe it takes a while to draw or I just don't follow any of the accounts that retweet it.
>>3973599I doubt there will be much of an increase in Genba art. He is hopelessly unpopular.
>>3973621I never understood why. He's funny and his bratty attitude is superb when they're fighting Shinano characters. Part of why I didn't want Ichikawa to die was the long-lasting enmity between him and Genba of which I would have loved to see more of.
>>3973735Most of the people who like brats only really like idealized ones who aren't actually that gross or mean like he is. He's also not quite prominent or annoying enough to appeal much to kids. Although I don't think nigewaka has a particularly large child audience anyway. I get the impression that he's more popular in the West. I think we tend to find full blown shitheads like him more amusing. But he's still too gross even for most Westerners. I love him. But he just unfortunately appeals to a small minority of people who are also not very prolific producers of fanart. And the transforming thing kind of fucked him over. Most of his most memorable scenes are him looking like someone else.
Matsui drew this as a tribute for Rurouni Kenshin's 30th Anniversary.
Artwork for the first anniversary of the anime.
Volume 21 extras.
>>3974427When I saw this I got excited for a season 2 date. But alas, I am filled with a fraction of Tadayoshi's daily suffering.
>>3974428Umbrella looks the same as the one Murakami had. Unless they all had the same colors/patterns back then.
>>3975113>post tokiyuki with his hair downAlright.
>>3975171Alt version.
Bonus: Kunitoki with his hair down.
Ok, I think that's enough for now. Here's another pic I wanted to post but didn't because it's too risque: https://files.catbox.moe/8z04g3.jpgThe original source is https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/116535052
This is a really well-made fan comic about Sadamune, his son and Ichikawa (or rather his ghost). Surprised it has the length of a doujinshi. Love the artstyle too.
>>3975409>Forgot the linkLike always. When I talk about links I forget the links, when I talk pics I forget the pics. Everytime. https://poipiku.com/10509968/11925008.html
The waka has gotten so handsome.
>>3976476I unironically prefer his current design over the kid version. Way prettier and he wears a cooler outfit IMO.
>>3977118I still prefer shotayuki and I knew I always would. But I'm also happy with what he grew up in to.
It's nice that Kira got more screentime in recent weeks. I like him being one of Tadayoshi's two loyal simps.
There needs to be more art of adult Tokiyuki and Kojiro.
>>3980130Oh yeah, I barely see it but it's my favorite Tkyk related fanart besides evil Tkyk like >>3980134
That said, fuck twatter for forcing me to use VPN to see fanart now, I am not even a Brit.
>>3980501I really hope that shit dies before it gets enacted here in burgerstan.
>>3980501Use a Nitter instance running the latest software (check the "version column" box): https://status.d420.de/>>3980508Good luck with that. Half of the McStates are implementing similar laws.
That anon wasn't the only one who thought of godzilla from that scene.
Tokiyuki owes me a hip attack to the face
>>3982400Are you sure you can handle it?
There isn't enough art of Kusunoki. One of my top three favs.
Kiyohara didn't get much fanart until the anime. Kusunoki will probably be the same.New thread btw>>3984443
