Just look at the recap, the animation was smooth, the singing decent...but in the actual show he's relegated to a background character or set to endure a humiliation ritual. I've managed to get him to watch a good bit of S1 and one episode of S2 and he says that Al is the only interesting character outside of maybe Sir Pentious, because he's the only one that has more than one dimension. That it was almost as if Al got sucked out of a much better show, or he was guest starring in someone's fanfiction. I hate to agree. We really just need a deer spin off made by a better writer.

So has anyone else seen Viv talking about how Lucifer and Alastor will have a 'relationship' in the coming seasons? I really, really hope she doesn't make RA canon. Not necessarily because I hate the ship, but because I think it would be a horrible decision for the direction of the show to make Al openly bisexual and not ambiguously asexual. I really don't know what she calls herself doing with stirring up ship drama, but it's to the detriment of her fandom and the second time she's done it.

Yeah, Viv is a cunt. She knows exactly what she's doing every time she talks about ships, she even said as much herself, but she still does it. I'd maybe give her a pass if she talked about minor characters, but Lucifer and Alastor are amongst the most popular characters and radioapple is one of the most popular ships. All it's going to do is make the fans more unbearable. I've already seen people talking about how Lucifer's going to divorce Lilith for Alastor because of how much of a bitch she's being by ignoring his and Charlie's phone calls. She showed up for two seconds, there's probably a reason why she's ignoring them, we know literally nothing about Lilith. Theorising is cool, but making up a whole elaborate headcanon about a character we know nothing about just to justify your ship is pretty dumb.I'm hoping that she's not talking about a romantic relationship. After the popularity of the ship she might be fujo-brained enough to do it, but I really hope not. I can see them getting closer, Al is going to suffer this season and Lucifer is probably going to angst over Lilith a lot too. Perhaps they bond over their traumas, they could both do with talking out their issues with someone and they're both too prideful to ask anyone for help.

I hope this true, but look at the trainwreck that is HB.Alastor and Lucifer becoming friends would be a-ok by me, I don't hate Lucifer as a character, and them dealing with trauma together could be good for chatter growth. If they became a couple Viv would not be able to write it properly, the RAs would ultimately be disappointed by it and Viv would lose a quarter if not half of her fanbase overnight. Militant RAs would make staying insufferable. It's probably the only thing that would make me drop the show completely.

Honestly I feel like making ships canon just sucks all the fun out of them. I wouldn't feel compelled to make fan content for a ship that already has a set in stone dynamic that gets explored in canon because it's just redundant and boring. I do think he begrudgingly cares about Alastor, them being friends before would make sense. Perhaps Alastor was scared of having an actual friend, and that’s why he tricked Husk into giving him his soul as a way to change their dynamic and stay in control. Or maybe he thought he was being magnanimous as Husk was going to lose his power and soul with his gambling, and then expected Husk to be grateful for Alastor altruistically saving him. Their relationship has the potential to be very interesting.
