I am at a point in my life where I think I should try that again, so I'll post some premises of my book. This is spoilers, but does anyone care?In this book, there is a Prince of a magical bloodline. By many measures an evil bloodline. Essentially a Vampiric nobility, but not exactly. He's an extremely cute prince, and on top of this, he's magically impotent, and overly compassionate and moral. He is a very good and sweet person, in the common sense, and so totally unfit to take the throne of his father's evil Empire. A good and pure boy, who is the unwilling heir to a dark throne. His father, the Emperor, is gay, and sort of stuck in a relationship with his wife, the Empress, out of necessity. So dad is repressed. His outlet for his repressed sexuality: he's a scientist who, with the help of the best scientists in his Empire, pursues his interest in cloning. In secret. The Emperor, is also disappointed in his son, for being non-magical, and being kind of unmanly and a bad fit to be his successor. So the Emperor clones himself, and with genetic engineering, creates a chimera man. I mean to, in the story, invoke Frankenstein's monster. This clone, of the Emperor himself, is designed to be his personal assassin, and to be powerfully magical: he's initially designed by the Emperor to be his potential successor. The son he really wanted.

She accuses her husband of genetically engineering a catamite (which *is* actually one of the Emperor's repressed motives), and a replacement for his biological son. She sees her husband's genetic engineering project as a project to create a usurper, so she insists that the assassin be genetically engineered to be a eunuch. Infertile like a mule and lacking sexual impulse. She sees his utility as a servant, genetically engineered to be a revitalization of their weakening magical blood (the magic of the Imperial bloodline is critical to maintain the stability of the Empire - so if the son can't come into his power, the assassin's existence will buy them some time), but hates the creature's guts. The assassin himself is finally grown and "born" from an artificial womb, a fully grown adult, and in fact 7ft tall, very beautiful and very threatening young warrior. He's given memory implants (pulling this from Bladerunner) to stabilize his personality, but technically speaking, as the story progresses, he will only be four years old by the time of the main events of the story. And while an adult physiologically and through memory conditioning: emotionally deeply immature and inexperienced, and after a certain point, very badly traumatized by events in the story. A revolution overthrows the Empire and sends the assassin and the prince into hiding. They pose as if the assassin is the Prince's dad. So it's a clone of the Prince's dad, in a technical sense one could say he's the Prince's brother, pretending to be his dad, while being literally younger than him by years. This assassin swears to serve the Emperor, which, after a certain point in the story, makes him the Prince's servant too.The Prince of course, in his grace and compassion, loves his brother, supports him, and cares for him, while the assassin defends him to the death.

The "trauma" the assassin goes through >>4002125There is this revolution that overthrows the Empire, and at a certain point in the story the prince is kidnapped, tortured, and brainwashed by the revolutionaries. They want to install him on the throne, having been brainwashed into being their leader, so that the Revolution will have an apparently legitimate claim to the throne. Hence the brainwashing. The assassin is sent to rescue the prince, discovers the prince having been tortured and brainwashed, and the prince asks the assassin for a mercy killing. Which he grants. Through some bullshit the Prince comes back to life. Actually in an android body. The assassin represses his memory of having killed the prince, the prince, reconstituted as an android, has no memory of the horrible things that happened to him, and so the assassin takes him into hiding and tries to protect him from the revolution and give him a happy life, while forcing himself to forget that he had killed the prince, and that the prince was in such a state that he asked him to do it. /cm/ gays might not like this, but a woman comes on the scene (a genetic engineer, like the Emperor) who becomes the assassin's love interest. She eventually decides she loves him, and his infertility is no problem to her, given what she can do with DNA as a scientist. The prince does question whether he's gay, and falls for an androgynous android. The prince does eventually, even as a robot, awaken to his magical abilities, and is able to turn his android friend "real" and I plan to leave it ambiguous as to whether his friend is a boy or a girl. I'd write a more overtly gay story, but I think platonic intimacy between the prince and his knight, and then this "is his android friend a boy or a girl?" ambiguity are as far as I feel I can take the gay with current politics.
I'm so sorry. I don't mean to unload.But I'm a disappointment to my family and pretty much everyone I meet. Thanksgiving was awful, dredging up more tension and cruelty from my family, and I don't know what to do. Bluntly, I've been wishing/hoping I hadn't actually failed my suicide attempt a few years ago, that I am actually dead, and that my soul just hasn't noticed yet.
