if you aren't gay or a fujoshi, the show will be boring because it's a romcom not so different from others, but I'd argue it's more relatable, realistic (as far as anime can go) and adorkable compared to the average shoujo romcom, but also a lot less happens during it as most of the show is all in Nakamura's head so if you don't feel for him or understand his experience you'll get bored by it quickly unless you REALLY like wholesome content. The main appeal is that it depicts the actual teenage love of a gay guy in a realistic way, without any rose tinted glasses and this is unprecedented for anime, it's a small revolution.For me personally, it isn't perfection but it ticks almost all the boxes so I love it. All the boys are too cute

The awkwardness that follows serves for comedic purposes and this time it isn't just Nakamura messing things up but Hirose too, and we get to see more of his personality and hotheadedness like the author planned. Then there's a shift in tone in the finale when Hirose finally tells Nakamura he loves him back. Doesn't matter because the series is over and dead anyway, but it's a nice thought and it works
