It's slightly above 40c here now and it feels like soup outside, but having aircon makes it much, MUCH more bearable. I do wish Europe adopted air conditioning. If we could retrofit all of our architecture here that predates the 1970s I know the UK can...My ancestors must have been made out of strong stuff to live in the Gulf though, damn.
>>4048575I think people are starting to, I’m fairly lucky in that my house is hundreds of years old and so has no insulation. It’s awful in winter, but pretty good in the heat. Up until recently it hasn’t been worth it, but we have more and more of these heatwaves where the temperature is creeping up towards 40. We still need the insulation and heating, but I can see houses starting to have AC as well. For now I’ll stick with my £25 fan and kicking my body pillows onto the floor.

No insulation either, so it's freezing in winter, but all of the pavement around means it's an oven in summer. We have a nice fan and Al certainly sleeps on the floor lol. Though last year I missed the worst of it, thank God. Hopefully the heating trend won't continue, but something tells me Europe will be as hot as the South before it's all said and done...

For us it’s still an emergency, we have to shut everything down just in case. If I pull The Offer again in my blaster boxes I’ll sell it and buy an AC unit.
