People often seem to forget that the global economy was completely fucked in the late 00s and networks were doing anything to save money, so they spammed cheap Canadian flash shit like Johnny Test because they didn't have to pay much for it and was pretty much guaranteed a profit. Like it basically didn't matter if people watched it or bought any merch, the networks could earn money off of selling the ad space during episodes alone. Season 1 was of course a completely different story, but it was irrelevant to the show's continued "success" after the production shift happened. Johnny Test lasting as long as it is one of the more clear reminders of how bad things were in the late 00s in an economic sense, it's kind of similar to all those cheap Hanna Barbera shows that dominated through the stagflation of the 70s.
