This thread stinks
Why was the pacing so bad?
>>151907221The problem with airing next to real anime made it really stand out how garbage it was and its lack of any original ideas. >>151907167This is an issue with a lot of western projects. Completely untested titles and creators write their first season like it’s the first of 10, rather than being realistic and writing a one season story and building it up later if it’s gets renewed. Too many creators think they are entitled to a renewal
>>151907324Eh, most of Toonami's lineup was shit at the time anyway so it wasn't really outclassed by much. If anything it was doing pretty well in the views at the time. About as well or better than most of the anime there at the time.
>>151903896Because instead of making the straightforward semi-serious "fight of the week with an overarching plot" series starring a young male protagonist who isn't either a retard or a weak fag or the like that the market desperately wanted and needed, they made a shitty almost purely comedic parody of the concept staring quirky brown girl no.58372.It really is that fucking simple, they needed to do a sincere back to basics series with a now nearly extinct type of protagonist because people interested in that kind of show have been so badly burned by constant fagslop that they'll naturally reject anything with even the smallest warning signs they've come to associate with what burned them, and instead they just did a whacky gay parody of the concept with shit pacing that had no audience because anyone who would have liked that was just going to go watch one of the 40 other shows already doing that while also pandering to them.
>>151907322Yeah, you're right, it wasn't played straight. As evident with the poor pacing. Maybe the battle tournament/training arc format just isn't suited for what was essentially a mini-series.
>>151908230It's hard really. The whole tournament idea needs time to flesh out. Usually it's not the first arc of one of these kind of stories. It's like the fourth or something. They have to build up the cast first and introduce everyone. Jumping right into something in that vein while also trying to build up everyone just feels like putting the cart before the horse.
Latina tomboy Supergirl > blonde bimbo Supergirl
I'm not sure, but I'm not opposed to it either

>>151908495Who?
The drawings on the right are great too, but not as great, is there a reason why their styles are nearly impossible to perfectly replicate? With their great composition and contrast and everything?I study anatomy and Preston Blair and all yet my art always manages to look more like something on the right than the left.
>>151894484Other than the rest of the anons, I wanted to add that one thing missing from(most of, the marmot thingy is quite well done actually) the drawings on the right is a sense of posing and perspective/depth. The demons especially are very flat in regards to posing - the limbs are skewed at odd angles. Computer guy's mouth is missing a sense of depth that IMO would enhance the piece.>>151894571Don't confuse anatomy with proportion! The big fat lummoxes and the schizo worm are good examples of this. The lip wrinkles follow the pulling of the muscles in the chin, eyes, and cheeks to create an expression. The lummoxes, in their fat folds, feel they have defined chest, shoulder, and back muscles. Really great drawings!>>151905454I still think there's a lot of great cartoons and great cartooning being done. Rebecca Sugar is extremely talented, as are the entire staff of Primal. Sturgeon's law always applies. Also, to not be a coward, here's one of my own cartoonier drawings. Have at it!
>>151894484Most stuff on the right looks like casual off-the-clock sketches rather than the left which is actual serious work for cartoon production. Just looks a little a like cherrypicking to me, and the portfolios for the artists on the right are probably just as impressive as the left.
>>151905454The only people who take art advice from this board are terminally online retards like you.
>>151908630Cheap insult that disregards all context. Artists from shows literally post here, who exactly do you think it’s good to take advice from? They also posted here before their jobs, developing their ideas. The stupidity is coming from you judging only by where you hear advice. A smart person knows how to evaluate the quality of advice and doesn’t care about status or appearances.
>>151908630Post your art or fuck off

Modern Rick and Morty fills the toonami vibe of something good in the background. I don't watch it, but I just have the entire season in the background in one sitting.
His monologue makes sense for Silver Age Superman.
>>151897654>>151899230this makes only sense if you thinkTarantino actually believes the average movie goer has enough capeshit knowledge to understand that Bill is wrong.
>>151895144For all eras of the character. Superman apparently has no thoughts or personal life. Lately I've been hating Big 2 characters more, I blame the garbage ass movies, but I'm getting too old for this shit. Bunch of boring ass characters.
>>151895281>Tarantino You mean the feet guy?

ok i laughed
i loved this silly retrofuturist space show about dogs trying to find a new planet for humanity but the main character is an absolute fuckup who always makes things worse.also, the purple husky who turns into an evil human-hating bitch is kinda hot. i'm one of the good ones, i promise!sadly, the show was never renewed for a new season despite leaving on a cliffhanger about the cats. it was never officially cancelled either, just left to rot at the bottom of the netflix barrel until memoryholed.the show deserved better.

>>151905052>>151905137>>151906711Is there a cartoon where this doesn't happen?
>>151905052That fucking lone bucktooth is how you KNOW you're in for a shit Spongebob ep
>>151906711This one hurt me personally. What I loved about early RS was how it felt like a more grounded and contemporary Flapjack thanks to its art style. That comparison started becoming less and less relevant the longer the series ran.
So this is what replaced Cartoon Network.

>>151907900It was cute seeing Batman team up with his childhood hero like that.
Imagine if Harley made Mary dress up as Baby New Year for her New Year party and let her "help herself" to the champagne and cocktails while guests keep her too pre-occupied to use the bathroom
>>151907900Dahl would've made a fantastic voice actor though. Wouldn't even need to be type-cast as child characters despite having the perfect cutesy voice, because her regular adult voice was very clear.
>>151907918I didn't realize it at the time but the fact the Gray Ghost was voiced by Adam West and was directly inspired by him being typecast following the 1960s Batman makes the episode all that much better.
>>151908504Imagine Mary just getting plastered at the last New Year party and the "Baby New Year" thing this year is just a cleanup precaution
