Why are cape editorials seemingly unable to produce done-in-one stories any more? Why do they insist on padding everything for the trades? Pacing, characterization, internal logic,... everything suffers for it. And I don't blame editorial only, writers seem to have forgotten how to do those as well. Pic related. Does anyone else miss how the early-mid 2000's had a lot of comics that told a lot of self-contained stories with enough plot threads hanging and being picked up here and there that they ended up forming a complete arc by the end?
