Gumball reminds me a lot of FoP and I don't mean that as a compliment in the slightest. It was fun and novel for about 5 seconds and then quickly became irrelevant and dated. It never became a real stopper like SpongeBob or Adventure time, but it has a vauge enough viewer ship to make some new content. I guess the short way to describe it is that it's a filler show to bridge the gap between the real hitters and people put up with it enough to warrant more, but not of the same quality, attention or hype.

Not only is he too complex as a canvas and self-starting, all things that make it harder unlike most largely blank slate anime protagonists, but frankly, he's simply too good and too pure. Compare him with most, say, isekai anime protagonists and he's vastly more clever, despite his plans not always working out they're still pretty good plans, at least I couldn't come up with them, whereas with isekai I often think 'I could do that' (which is the point imo). With Lincoln I think more like...this is a guy where I can accept moral instruction from his example. I respect him.Which is not to say I don't fucking love power fantasies, romance fantasies and self-inserting. Just not really in this show. In this show I really, really like the boy on his own merits. That's why I was never really into the old 'anon gets into a relationship with x sister' greens either. I want to read about Lincoln even more than I want it to be a clear and obvious self-insert of me in the TLH world. Can't really say how it is for others.

Where has the time gone?Philippines celebrate Rizal Day, a memorial for their national hero, José Rizal, but it's time to focus on the other country celebrating today - Slovakia, where it's the Day of the Declaration of Slovakia as an Independent Ecclesiastic Province - back in 1977, by Pope Paul VI. And I'll be honest, I'm scrapping the bottom of the barrel here. But at least I've got both Slov**ias under my belt now.The days before Christmas are spent baking oodles of cookies of all sort - gingerbread, honey-soaked, with poppyseed, Linzer, any kind of confectionery you can think of. Many households would also buy a carp a few days before Christmas and keep it in their bathtub until the Eve. Although apparently supermarkets in Slovakia - as well as Czechia and Poland - stopped selling live carps last year.That's because Carp is the main dish during the Christmas Eve (called "Stedry Vecer" or "Generous Night") feast - since it's technically still Advent, a time of anticipation and contemplation, even the feast has an aspect of fasting, which means no meat (some people will also straight up not eat anything before the evening feast). And the carp is apparently supposed to stay in the bathtub, with clean and easily replaceable water, so it'll lose the muddy aftertaste after feeding on pondscum its whole life.But before Slovaks get to the carp - and other dishes - there's two things that need to happen first: the sharing of oplatky, basically larger communion wafers, pieces of which members of the family are supposed to offer each other alongside well wishes, and the first dish, kapustnica - a cabbage soup. Afterwards, you're free to sample the more solid foods, like the aforementioned carp, potato salad bobalky sweet bread balls or lokše, potato-flour based crêpes.And after the feast, presents get delivered by Ježíško, Baby Jesus himself.
