The first movie had over 100 rewrites.I know of the concept of "Too Many Cooks" but in the case of golden era Simpsons I'd say it helped. Sounds like the writers would often be like friends hanging out trying to make each other laugh or playing off of what each other are saying. Making jokes like that is genuinely easier than sitting in a room alone and imagining them out of thin air with no inspiration.

Humanize the people who made the art that built the company. But it's Disney, they don't want to do that. They only really care about the Disney Parks and grinding out computer graphics patents to hoard for themselves or to license for big money
