Both because it's hilarious seeing them try to hide it from each other while maintaining their egos, as well as it adding some spice to what might have been an otherwise dull weekend. Bonus points if the four of them hide it all from Theodore and Eleanor but, with them being the empathic ones of their trios, see through everything.

Truth is episodes 1-3 were kind of doomed from the start due to the angle they went for. The idea was clearly to write a tragedy, an Icarus-style story of a young man's hubris being his downfall. Problem is the execution was atrocious and clearly the only direction they had was specific scenes and moments they wanted put in, like the betrayal of the clones, Anakin murdering the sand tribes and the young Jedi, Qi-gon's death and the conclusion with Anakin fully becoming Vader. Because all they had were these tiny moments they had to string together to form a narrative that also had segue into the narrative of the prequels, the end result is a series of contrivances, coincidences and extreme idiocy making the plot advance.Frankly they might have had a better result if they made it so Anakin was set to train under Dooku prior to him being outed as a sith or something along those lines, setting him up to be manipulated and influenced by Sheev and taught the sith mindset from early on, which resonates with him and his lust for power and control, and later puts him at odds with the jedi.
