She's always clearly depicted as being a different ethnicity than Wolverine and as we saw in her initial appearance in X-Men: Evolution that ethnicity just happens to be the same as the female scientist that "cloned" her.What actually happened is she combined her DNA with Wolverine's which makes her Wolverine's daughter, not his clone. I think partly they're just nervous she'll get written off as frivolous if they say that, though, especially since Wolverine's son Daken failed to land and had a lot more going for him. It makes sense. Logan works better as a gruff mentor type that always has some teenaged jailbait as a morality pet.
