Comics as a medium are fundamentally lacking in potential. They have a built in quality ceiling and it's really low. The pictures, which should be the main focus, are not allowed to speak for themselves. They are forced to work together with the other panels and the dialogue. And it never ends up blending into one single experience, it feels like trying to rapidly shift your focus between three different things. If you try to remedy this you just end up with an art book instead of a comic, which is what companies should be publishing. Comics never feel as natural as reading a book or watching a cartoon. Comic books try to mix the two together but remove what makes each special. It doesn't stimulate your imagination like a novel and can never be as expressive, nuanced or beautiful as animation.

Comics only made it this far because they're cheap and easy to produce and many artists are too lazy to create cartoons.

See, that's just straight up obnoxious. Why do they do that?

I agree. Decades of big companies producing only the absolute cheapest slop imaginable so kids could buy them with the extra nickel left over from their lunch money has done irreparable damage to the medium, from which it has only slightly recovered. The same goes for cartoons too.

That kind of shortform making-it-up-as-we-go week by week format is really shit for decent storytelling.

It's very close to being a good format. Longer, more continuously focused books, maybe combined with a higher text to image ratio could be perfect.

I know this is bait but this is actually why I personally never got into comics. I have nothing against the medium, however.

So you are incapable of blending the simultaneous visual experience of text and image into a cohesive narrative. Sorry about that.
