Bull initially whines and moans about his upcoming operation to the point where the other dogs get annoyed that he's saying cruel things about their condition.On the other hand, if Bull and Luther were the only dogs that ended up fixed, then Bull's position would be more lonely. His friends coming to support him would change its meaning. It would be more like "you might be losing your manhood but we're still your friends" instead of "you were being a jerk but we're still your friends".
