This show is underrated as hell. The entire series is on archive.org in acceptable quality here: https://archive.org/details/the-bots-master

Watch the first episode 'Adios ZZ' and see what you think. If you're into action/sci-fi you'll probably like it.

If you're already familiar with it, what are your thoughts on the series?

Skimmed around a bit and holy shit this animation rocks
Seems like this was cut from the same cloth as Spider-Man TAS with how everything is fast
>>
Honestly? Totally agreed. Glad people are coming around to it. Loved it as a kid. Probably worth a rewatch as an adult to be honest. Probably missed and forgot a lot since I watched it back then. All I remember vividly is the episode with the laser proof bots that they had to squirt with lemon juice to melt. Then they started putting a plastic coating on them to protect them from the lemon juice so they had to get close, remove the coating and then squirt.

Yeah I can see the similarities in terms of the animation speed, but the art style is very different.

I loved it as a kid too, rewatching it in my 30s and enjoying it so far.

>All I remember vividly is the episode with the laser proof bots that they had to squirt with lemon juice to melt.

lol that's one of the few I remembered too

I'm from the 90's; Unfortunately, I had never heard of it before, but hey, that seemed pretty good! I'd probably have loved it as a kid back then.

>I'm from the 90's; Unfortunately, I had never heard of it before

That was common. It must have had s shitty timeslot because I remember being the only kid in my school who watched it.

bot thread

Loved the show, although its very 90's with all the rapping. Loved the design of the bots, shame the toys from what I remember were kind of bad.

Also it needs to be said in every Bots Master thread. Lady Frenzy was pure sex

>Lady Frenzy was pure sex

Those gotta be DD at least

Any art of this show?
>>
>>150089787
I'm surprised people are rediscovering so many of these late 80's early 90's shows now. In general it seems like alot of these overlooked action cartoons from yesteryear are getting alot of love lately. Calamity Jane was the first major example. I wonder when people will stumble onto Space Strikers, the Red Planet miniseries, Jonny Quest Adventures, or Invasion America.

There's alot of old toytoons like Botsmaster that deserve proper releases. Turbo Teen, Bionic Six, The Comic Strip, etc.
>>
>>150091616
fuh fact, botsmasters was toybiz' first major forray into toys before marvel bought em
>>150092313
not really

>>150089787
I am digging this shit way too much

Blitzy a cute

Bots Master was produced by Jean Chalopin I believe.

Chalopin created DiC studios and established the US-Japan-France animation co productions. His first project with DiC was Inspector Gadget.

Chalopin ran DiC when they were putting out actually good stuff: Gadget, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Real Ghostbusters, Heathcliff, Rainbow Brite, etc

Then he left and DiC went to crap.
Bots Master was something he produced at his second start up company.

He was always more of a money guy, no real passion for animation and he bowed out of the industry not long after and Bots Master fell into obscurity.

Interesting guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Chalopin

Yeah, I was twelve when this came out and it felt like it was produced just for me.

It's a solid sci-fi show under the toy commercial. Or because of the toy commercial, there's a certain charm to the era where creative studios were given a lot of rope as long as they pushed the toys.

Need more lewds.

Watched this show a lot when it first aired, then got distracted by MST3K and Whose Line Is It Anyway. Then it stopped airing and the one toy I bought from the show was really underwhelming.
Very unique show in terms of design and presentation though.

>look at ring door cam
>see this
I'll answer the door for the girl but those robots on either side of her have me thinking twice about that.
>>
>>150093145
Interesting the despite being a money guy he apparently did have some creativity, it can't be coincidence that most of the shows he had a hand in were good and the DIC went to shit when he left

>>150094165
A lot of shows from that era were shitty shows with good toys, Bots Master was a good show with shitty toys

>>150095245
lmao why, those two don't look scary
>>
>>150089787
It is what it is but Blitzy is cute.
>>
>>150089787

I always thought this show looked good but the gimmick(3d scenes) was too crappy for me to keep watching it.
