Are we liking Absolute Batman?
>>
Yeah, its goofy, campy fun.
>>
>>150102105
>its goofy, campy fun.
Why are most comic runs failing to match this lofty bar?
>>
>>150102079
Nah, it's mid.
>>
>>150102079
I stopped buying them at the Mr Freeze issue. Not because it sucks but because I've been so busy that I haven't had time to grab some issues. Honestly this and Absolute Superman are my favorite Batman/Superman stories told so far. Batman in this is just more hardcore. It's like Batman Year One but he's a lot more reckless because he wants the city to wake up. I also like Batman stories where he slowly rises to watch over gotham.

>We want the Eisner Award for superb storytelling in a drama instead of fun comics that sell
>>
>>150102146
it obviously doesn't matter, but do the fans even WANT sloppy drama?
>>
>>150102079
No, I find all of the absolute books other than Martian manhunter to be anywhere from underwhelming to terrible.
>>
It's better than the nu-ultimate books, that's for sure
>>
>>150102079
Haven't read a single issue and probably never will.
>>
>>150102079
AF
>>
>>150102356
Patrician taste, anon.
>>
>>150102105
i was told the same thing about dark knights and the METAL stuff
and it wasnt campy fun, it was moronic edge 95% of the time. i understand it was trying to be edgy but it wasnt even good at being edgy apart from the one shots about the dark knights
>>
>>150102079
It's not good, but it's better than a lot of modern shit that people praise. It's at least trying to be cool.
>>
>>150102367
Yeah.
>>
>>150102079
I prefer it to absolute Superman. I like it
>>
>>150103309
Well, this is 100% Pizzacutter Batman, anon.
>>
I hope when other heroes inevitably appear in the book they also suddenly become super jacked. Wally's a kid but it's fine, make him a 6'5 brick shithouse whenever he appears in it.
>>
>>150102079
I want to see deadshot or kgbeast

All anyone talks about is the how crazy and over-the-top it is, but what makes all that work for me is that it's surprisingly well-written, at least the character stuff (pic kind of related, I liked all the flashback stuff with Matchstick in the Mr. Freeze arc). I really, really hope they don't go the predicable route and have all 4 of his friends becomes their villain versions then die heroically. Keep the ridiculous giant killer croc around long-term, why not, don't pussy out and have him do a self-sacrifice against Bane like we're all expecting.
>>
>>150102079
It's super fun yeah
>>
>>150102079
Nah, it's the usual Snyderslop that tries to make up for its mediocre writing with dumb spectacle. I still like Dragotta as an artists but the designs also kinda suck. Martian Manhunter is the only Absolute title which I read that actually made me want to read more of it.
>>
>>150102211
No. We want good stories, but writers are either women or fags so all they know is romantic drama or inner struggle, but zero drama in the argument. They really are that untalented.
>>
>>150104684
Well yeah, Absolute Superman is terrible.
>>
>>150108142
Why?
>>
>>150102356
Who’s your favourite character in AMM? Generic wife is mine followed up by spooky child
>>
I read the first few issues and thought it was pretty alright. Like always though, the concern is Snyder sticking the landing, though as an alt universe maybe a weird ending won’t be as bad as usual.
>>
>>150102079
I like it, but I'm concerned with where it's headed. I can hear "he learned this technique from the Tibetan Monks" and I'll simply just go with it, but Absolute seems to be going down the ** "he was tortured into becoming a super soldier" ** where I think "well that's boring..."
>>
>>150102079
>we
>>
>>150109093
We’ve already had Darkseid pop up in one of these books, and we’re getting a crossover between books soon, it’s only a matter of time before crossoveritis ruins whatever individual personality these books have.
>>
>>150102079
i like how big he is
>>
>>150102079
It's outrageous in a good way.
I'm still wondering what Bruce and Waylon will find during their escape from Ark M as well as wanting to know what Ark M will do with the rest of the Crime Alley Kids.
Hoping that if they do turn them all, then Batman will form his own Outsiders team to fight Gotham's corrupt elites.
>>
>>150106142
I'm more hoping Batman will instead form them into this continuity's version of the Outsiders.
>>
It’s a working class take on the character that doesn’t feel as grating as recent attempts like the Zdarsky comic where Selina calls Bruce a chud for arresting bank robbers. Snyder also makes Bruce a violent psycho which I think is a great creative decision that moves him away from the generic stoic cool guy most comics portray him as.
>>
>>150110451
ah yes FINALLY a Batman who is a violent psycho
>>
>>150110626
This Batman can dismember and impale and blow up his enemies as much as he wants, but they don't die.
>>
baki for millennials
>>
>>150102119
Because lesbians and women brained fan boys.
>>
Imo nick dragotta hard carries this series
>>
>>150102079
Tryhard retarded garbage.
>>
>>150111339
This.
>>150111366
At least it tries.
>>
>>150102079
im liking it a lot . a lot of people on here dont like it and i dont know why. its the only absolute book keeping my attention. wonder woman is ok too i guess. all the others bore me to death. im a huge flash fan and that book is terrible. Wally finally gets his own series focusing on him from the start with seemingly no barry baggage and its shit. thanks a lot Didio.
>>
>>150110451
>working class
>modified a gigantic mining dump truck so that it can transform into a submarine using only his middle-class engineering knowledge
>>
>>150113279
>At least it tries.
That's a fair response, but everything from the cape that's a drill (that Batboy genius invented as a child) to the MUH WORKING CLASS BACKGROUND to even having Martha Wayne survive just to avoid women in fridges, all just reeks of insecurity. No matter how over-the-top rule-of-cool bullshit it gets, it will always have a onions aftertaste because it's built from the ground up as a response to Reddit-tier arguments against Batman and his core character traits.
>>
>>150110451
>It’s a working class take on the character
No it isn’t
>>
>>150114121
Snyder should have tried harder with less filter.
>>
Bat-related but did you guys see/talk about the Matt Fraction Batman #1 preview yet? Croc escapes Arkham Tower, appears to be regressing mentally, and while Batman is examining the cell while talking to Waylon's doctor, Bruce appears cynical stating "People never change". Batfans are already upset Bruce has this outlook and that critical of Jones after so many years
