Why did Bart wear a blue shirt in every Simpsons media besides the actual show?
>>
I bet Gabbo knows.
>>
>>150106236
More effective advertising.
>>
Good question

Thanks

At a guess, the original licensing agreements used production work for Bart that didn't have the finalized color scheme. That or he wore a blue shirt in a Tracey Ullman short that was used in meetings with advertisers and people just assumed that he'd dress the same in the actual series.

There was a lot of bootleg chink Simpsons merch in the show's first year, mostly of Bart, and Fox decided to combat it by mandating that Bart would always wear a blue shirt on official merch. This was done under the idea that chinks wouldn't know that so any merch where Bart had an orange shirt could be identified as counterfeit.

I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder
Also, when the fuck are they bringing back Butterfinger BB's. That shit rocked so hard. Hate having to buy a pack of individually wrapped minis instead nowadays

FWIW I remember reading that somewhere also
If it was a mistake how did it keep happening on dozens if not hundreds of products?
>>
>>150107820
I'm pretty sure it was, because it's fucking stupid.
>people are making bootleg merch of our character
>let's make our character inaccurate so that people know that the ones that look accurate are unofficial
It just doesn't make sense at all. The more likely explanation is what >>150106596
said. They probably intended on giving Bart a blue shirt when making promo material but decided on orange by the time that the show was in production. The Simpsons actually kinda has a history of doing this sort of thing, like when the Burger King toys for the Simpsons Movie used an old design for the main villain that was completely different.
The other closest example I can think of is that the reason why Tails from Sonic is brown in all of the old cartoons and early promo material is because Sega sent everybody a very early sprite of the character.

Who the fuck even likes eating Butterfingers? That shit gets gunked up in your mouth and you need to dig it out with your finger since it's too strong for your tongue.

[Verse]
Bart in blue it's a con!
It's a scam!
Every toy every shirt or game with the brand
Red on the screen but blue in my hand
Who made this choice who drew up this plan!

[Chorus]
Blue shirt Bart why do you lie
Red on the screen blue in the sky
Blue shirt Bart I’m losing my mind
Red on the screen but the merch ain't aligned

[Verse 2]
Is it a joke is it a test
Some nerd’s trivia to best the rest
Do they laugh while they print the tees
Marketing schemes to mess with me

[Prechorus]
Every figure every box every ad
Blue shirt Bart just makes me mad

[Chorus]
Blue shirt Bart why do you lie
Red on the screen blue in the sky
Blue shirt Bart I’m losing my mind
Red on the screen but the merch ain't aligned

[Bridge]
Call me lifeless call me a nerd
But I’ll die for the truth I know I’ve observed
I know what I know, and I know it's true
Bart wears red, Bart doesn't wear blue!
>>
>Now for a little calming blue... Hey, where's your blue shirt!?
>I don't have a blue shirt...

Don't forget the elusive green shirt Bart

Back in the late 80s (and probably sooner but I know this was a thing at the time) they'd send out licensing packs to various corporations that had stuff like model guides BEFORE the show even aired. Which resulted in a lot of promotional material using earlier versions of characters that never actually made it into the show. I'd bet good money that these promotional packs had Bart in a blue shirt and companies just rolled with it even after the series proper started airing. Hell they might have even just kept sending out the original guidelines because it was cheaper than making a whole new set that reflected the final product if the biggest change by then was that Bart's shirt would be blue.

Less physical media. You don't have magazines or TV Guides or even people buying physical games so much anymore. No more manual art, and box art matters less too. Strategy guides and magazines used to put in a bunch of extra art, it was half the fun of having them.

Advertising feels worse too now. Online advertising is soulless in comparison to TV or print advertising. I can't remember a single Youtube ad, but can remember tons of magazine and TV ads. Like I remember all those Raid Shadow Legends promotions existing, but not anything else about them. That Uber Eats ad is the last one I remember, and not for good reasons (that was probably on TV too, but nobody watches TV now).

Not surprising, they're both Square games from the same era. Chrono Trigger came out around a year after Final Fantasy VI.

>>
>>150112062
Yeah actually living through the 2000s kind of sucked but at least the vidya, comics, and cartoons were a good escape. Then all that fun stuff happened from 2007 and on and things took a real nasty turn that we never recovered from.

The chart says that more modern advertising means are more effective on the psyche, not at making you want the product but rather it is more effective at being remembered even if subconsciously. The chart also says that it doesn't matter if you like or dislike the advertisement, it will have the same effect regardless.
>>
>>150112309
Dogshit, the first few years felt like they were going somewhere and then suddenly politics became cool and it fucked everything in the ass.
>>
I wish Bart kept the blue shirt for the series. I've always liked it more than the orange shirt.

I don't understand this board sometimes.
Why would you go out of your way to lie about something as trivial as Bart Simpson not having his iconic teal blue shirt? Why would people like >>150109499 go through the effort of editing a scene to give him an orange shirt?
Everyone knows that only in merchandise he had an orange shirt
>>
>>150115594
It's just some dumb meme like dead bort or Wierd Mat, nobody here actually thinks that Bart's shirt wasn't blue anon.
>>
>>150109499
There's an episode from around season 3-4 where Marge is going through old clothes and picks up a blue shirt
