Was Johnny Test really that bad?

It just seemed like a pretty average Canadian cartoon with a bad sound design

It was Teen Titans Go before Teen Titans Go was a thing. Loud, obnoxious, brainless, cheap, and run almost 24/7 on CN.

The average Canadian cartoon is fucking shit, there's good stuff that comes from there but the average? Shit.
>>

Now imagine the Teen Titans Go/Johnny Test crossover
>>
It was good when it was only airing on Canadian channels and I got to see it when I visited the lake and then came back and told everyone about this obscure Canadian cartoon, but once it was the Teen Titans Go before Teen Titans Go I just got sick of it.

Honestly surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Or has it? Wouldn't know, I don't keep track.

Season 1 back when Warner Bros. was doing it was pretty underrated and a fun twist on the Dexter's Lab formula.
>>
imagine the scorpion and the frog but the scorpion is a canadian cartoonist. they lack the willpower not to make slop even when given an opportunity to make something good

>a fun twist on the Dexter's Lab formula.
I see people parrot this a lot, but the whole "redhead genius working in a giant lab" deal was really more of a background thing in Johnny Test. The comparison would only really work if Dee Dee was the main character of Dexter's Lab.

>pretty average Canadian cartoon
it wasn't the case. It used to be American until 2007-08
>>
>average Canadian cartoon
Yeah, exactly.

>if Dee Dee was the main character of Dexter's Lab.
That's the twist
>>
>>150110408
>obnoxious show
>felt like a worse reverse version of dexter's lab
>kept getting more episodes
It wasn't the worst but it just wouldn't fucking die.
>>

It was super cheap to make.

There was more to that twist anyway. Johnny would actually use his sisters' experiments to his advantage and do things like fight evil (rather than copying Dexter one-to-one and have him blow up the lab almost every episode) and I thought that was a pretty fun idea back in the day. The problem was that the execution since season 2 was complete garbage and that kept the show from being seen as an underrated classic to many even if you did like the first season only.
>>
>>150110408
season 1 was genuinely good, not amazing but it wasn't anything like the following seasons
>>
>>150110408
Flash animation, annoying foley art, and lame jokes. It failed on every level except "use bright colors."
>>
>>150111576
Season 1 was cel animated and looks better but it wasn't funny. It's like Kim Possible, it looks funny so people remember it as being funny when it was always slop.
>>
It's bad, but nowhere near as bad as the cartoon spergs from 10-15 years ago portrayed it as. After all, it's just a cartoon.

>>150110424
It's crazy that we thought that the 3.5 hours a day that Johnny Test would air for was the worst that CN's scheduling would ever get. If only that were the case...

Stfu troon

>annoying foley art

What does that even mean?
