Do you want another live action campy Batman? How can one be made without repeating Schumacher's mistakes aside from the obvious over the top gayness? How campy can the DCU movie be without likely alienating the normalfags still obsessed with "muh Nolan's serious business hyperrealism grit"?
>>150111610Weird how everyone’s going back to watch these movies now, guess Gunn’s slop Superman has made people realize that this film wasn’t as egregious as we panned it to be
I think campy Batman works better in animated form. Like Return of the caped crusader and Batman vs Two-Face which I recently watched.
>>150111610Just balance it- Schumacker’s movies weren’t bad they just lacked edge, if he let Ivy and Freeze actually kill people then the stakes would have been set and no one would feel insulted, the interactions with Bruce and Dick outside of the suits were always enjoyable but when the villains don’t actually do anything life threatening why should anyone care
Good writing like anything else. Idk why it's always lost in the discourse of these movies like, "Aww come on, they're good, it's camp!" The tone isn't the problem, it's the absymal writing.
>>150111720Those movies were disappointing, nowhere near as fun as the TV show.
>>150111610Batman and Robin is perfect as is and I would like to see more superhero movies just fully double down on letting eccentric directors manifest their version of the superhero power fantasy in whatever way they see fit, even if it doesn't fully mesh with traditional depictions of the characters they are adapting. I am so completely burned out on these movies that feel like they're essentially directed by a board room and put in front of so many test audiences full of borderline retatlrded people through so many iterations that anything even remotely interesting in terms of content or craft is "polished" right out. I'll take something cringey or stupid over something corporately mandated to be as bland and toothless as possible because the budget is too big to risk scaring away one single normie.
>>150111610>without likely alienating the normalfags still obsessed with "muh Nolan's serious business hyperrealism grit"They already have that covered with Reeves.
>>150111610Yes but I want him in trunks. Basically take the Adam west costume and make it more modern. He’ll just stretch it over the bat fleck costume. But keep the trunks. Fuck Michael uslan for ruining Batman.
>>150111610That's probably what James Gunn is gonna do.
>>150111610Why does Batman have to be campy at all?Okay great it happened in the 60s, it's done.
>>150111610>>150111741I always thought the first Burton movie figured out the perfect balance. Batman and Joker were the cartoon characters with impossible to explain cartoon gadgets, cartoon physics, and reactions. But the rest of the world was the actual real world with real world reactions and consequences. Joker's wacky shit just plain killed people in odd ways. No one understood how in the fuck Batman's gadgets worked or where they came from, they just worked. It was like a comic version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit where comic characters walked into the real world and did their wacky comic thing.
>>150113025Raimi Spider-Man movies hit that sweet spot too.Spider-Man, Green Goblin, and Dock Ock were real life toons running around in a regular New York setting where it's fucking strange for costumed guys to bounce between buildings and things that normally would have killed them they just shrugged off or kept swinging. Everyone around cound not believe what was going on. MCU sort of lost this since everyone everywhere is too aware they are in a toonish setting and weirs shit is just common now so it's not really hitting the same way.
