Did anybody else pick this up? After how good Ross’ FF was and seeing the art was by Cho I had extremely high hopes for this the moment it was announced. And honestly it’s just Chip Kidd sucking his own dick for 60 pages. Jesus what a waste of money this was. The art is nice but I don’t even find myself ever wanting to open it again.
Is this one of those books aimed at small children?
>>150112707Not really, or at least I wouldn’t expect that from the marvel arts line. Like The Alex Ross fantastic four I expected it (and found it) to be for more mature readers. Which, to be very clear, is not to say its “mature” in the immature sense of swearing and nudity but just not something kids would care for. And the price really kinda reflects that. 25 dollars is too steep for a 60 page kids book and musings of self-reflection aren’t exactly kids-fare. This would have benefited from being a soft cover or floppy at 9.99-11.99 tops. Even then I’d have gotten to the end and felt cheated.
>>150112662The art looks great but even when I saw the preview with multiple character introduction splash pages I knew the pacing would be an issue with such a low page count. Not surprised to hear it wasn’t as good as Full Circle.
>>150112662I can't imagine an Avengers comic being good, especially not these days.
>>150113213Actually the reason it sucks is because it isn’t an avengers comic. It’s a comic about chip kidd dressed up as an avengers comic.
>>150112662I didn’t even know this finally came out
>>150113213>I can't imagine an Avengers comic being good, especially not these days.Avengers: War Across Time from 2023 was pretty good, though it's a 60's throwback. Alan Davis can still deliver on the art chops.
>>150114637Three Iron Mans?
>>150112662I read it on Hoopla. It’s garbage.
>>150114680I think it's pretty clear it's just a cover and isn't meant to be literal.
>>150112662This is the follow up to Full Circle? Alex Ross is a superstar and him doing interiors was a big event. Who the fuck are Chip Kidd and Michael Cho?
>>150114923>This is the follow up to Full Circle? Not really, it's just the most recent Marvel graphic novel released by Abrams under their "Marvel Arts" banner like FF Full Circle since Marvel doesn't do graphic novels for the book market anymore on their own.
>>150114923Not at all
>>150114637OP here, bought these as they released. Genuinely love this mini.
>>150114923Michael Cho is a very well known artist and him doing interiors is similarly a big deal. It’s depressing that you post on /co/ despite being such a casual. Chip Kidd, oddly, is more known for design work (he worked on a murakami book for instance) and probably shouldn’t have been given such a writing gig but I assume he had a literary agent/publisher connection that allowed the opportunity to present itself when it otherwise wouldn’t have.
>>150115776>I assume he had a literary agent/publisher connection that allowed the opportunity to present itself when it otherwise wouldn’t have. This feels like a statement that applies to FAR too many comics, both monthly releases and ogns
>>150114637I wish we could get more comics like this, and I don’t mean more garbage ass Claremont minis.
>>150114923>This is the follow up to Full CircleI fucking wish
>>150112662It was alright. I could have done without the meta plot. It was best at the beginning when it was just nice Cho splash pages as a silver age throwback.
>>150112662not yet
>>150112662I like Michael Cho.
>>150112662>0 diversity-hire Avengers>Not even Black Panther who would be entirely justifiedI was pleasantly suprised.
