What are the key ingredients to a great episode of Scooby-Doo?
>>
>>150118985
>Good comedy
>Enjoyable monster wether as a concept or in personality and menace
>Fun setting that can add emphasis to above points
>Solid character interaction
>Daphne making me erect
>>
Shaggy fucking a non human entity
>>
>>150119109
>RAGGY ROOOOOOOOO
>>
>>150118985
>unique monster
>clever or convoluted explanation for the existence of said monster
>development of the main cast or putting them in a interesting situation/environment
The second point really brings a smile to face.
>>
>>150119097
>>150119140
Bonus points if Shaggy or Scooby play the key role in defeating the monster.
>>
>>150118985
There has never been a good episode of scooby do. Every single one follows the same formula with the same jokes. T

In latter-day episodes and series of the franchise, one thing that always makes an episode kino for me is when they split the gang up in unconventional combos. For almost half a century, Scooby Doo lived and died by Fred, Velma, and Daphne going off by themselves and then Shaggy and Scooby going off in a duo. SOMETIMES they'd mix it up by putting Velma with Shaggy and Scooby, but even that got old. I like it when they mix it up these days. Mystery Inc. was REALLY good at this. They'd send Fred and Shaggy off together, they'd send Daphne off with Scooby, it was fun and neat and it felt fresh.

>Scooby
>Dooby
>Doo
thats about it really.
>>
>>150118985
Yes. The ingredients...
>>
>>150118985
The best Scooby Doo episodes are the ones where the gang figures out how the villain's gimmick works and turns it against them.
>>
>>150118985
i don't know...
make a series in the same tone as the Zombie Island Movie+Mystery S.A serious tones but with the silliness of the "What is New Scooby doo" To easy up the tension. And no weird romantic tension and multiverse crap. Only linear canon events. and the only canon ship should be Fred and Velma because nobody knows how to write decent romance between the gang. Please don't give romantic interest to Shaggy. It doesnt work in the long run. He should at minimun have a friend besides his talking dog. Surprises me nobody did a series set in a university/college ambient yet. and no im not counting Velma that thing doesnt exist to me.
>>
>>150123037
I MEANT FRED/DAPHNE damn worst typo ever.
>>
>>150118985
I like the ones that have a supernatural entity as the monster and then reveal there was an actual supernatural entity too.

A key aspect has to be that it is a mystery and that the monster is fake. I love Zombie Island as much as the rest of you but that only works BECAUSE it's outside the norm, like the Dark Knight Returns does for Batman. If you make them fight real ghosts then suddenly Shaggy and Scooby aren't cowards anymore, they're rational actors.
>>
>>150126633
Eh I think it can work sometimes. That whole four movie series had real monsters the whole time
>>
>>150126633
Mystery inc had a nice twist with the real monster being the finale that was built up to after all the fake costumes
>>
>>150118985
Mystery+Fun Setting+Celebrity Cameo.
>>
>>150128114
>That whole four movie series had real monsters the whole time
Really only technically.
>Zombie Island
Yes, the zombies and true antagonists were real monsters. Basically the selling point.
>Witch's Ghost
It was fake, but the twist was there was an actual one that got summoned for the climax.
>Alien Invaders
The main villains were fake, no ifs ands or buts. The twist was that aliens did exist, but they were allies.
>Cyber Chase
Not sure what this counts as because the monster was a manufactured entity that was only created recently. Like, it was real, but phantom viruses are not a common thing to be feared. And then it teleported the gang to a realm where the monsters were real to them, but the realm itself was just a video game.

>Did you know that the original treatment for "Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island" was originally developed for Swat Kats, back before the show was cancelled? There were major differences (it involved Commander Feral nearly getting his life drained by a single succubus Kat), but the overall structure of the last act of the movie was still similar to that episode treatment.

>Well, once I learned that, I couldn't resist having Lena & Simone meeting Jake and Chance, and see if those heroic hunks could tame those foul felines away from using black magic, by introducing them to a different kind of life essence...

Also, did you all forget that the Red Shirt Shaggy stuff exists?

>You ever notice how, over the course of the Scooby franchise, nearly everyone on the team has become a werewolf in one way or another?

>Well, maybe it's a good thing they never went wolfy at once, or else they'd be making a wolf pack more than solving mysteries!

>Art is done by the fantastic Aeolus06
>Hope everyone had a great Halloween 2023!

Everyone focuses on the 4 movies, but what are you thoughts on the movies that are more monster romps? Like Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf or the Goblin King.

Talking female dog guest, either related or not. Good ep.
>>
>>150118985
>great comedy
>scary monster/creature
>special guest star (as a potential foreshadow to the storyline)
>Fred, Velma and Daphne being respectively very useful
>Scooby having a scooby snack
>chase sequence with insanely good music during said montage
>>
>>150118985
A villain that is never introduced until the end that they solve somehow.
>>
If Shaggy Rojo appears I know it's gonna be a good time.
