Season 1 was basically a sentai-like show mixed with Indiana Jones and Mad Max-like vehicular action scenes, however the action figures were so small that there was no way to represent the characters' powers as play features, so in Season 2 they just changed it to a racing show and it was a tiny run compared to Season 1.

Rimba Racer had some very fun and toyetic designs that would have made for great toys or a video game, and if they had gotten a deal they probably could have done a lot more with the show. I appreciate it as it is, although a lot of cartoons that didn't last long did so because they needed a merchandise deal to pay for the animation. One of the most infamous examples is Green Lantern: The Animated Series. It was lauded by critics and fans, but nobody would pick up the merchandise rights after the failed movie toy line which ultimately doomed it from getting a second season because the show was way more expensive to produce than it could ever get back from just ad spot revenues.
