They both have similar takes on morality as metaphysics, where humanity's good and evil beliefs and actions feed the good and evil "spirits" of the world. Azar's radical pacifism in her pocket dimension seems like a clear extrapolation on that. Hell, Azar itself is a Persian word for the Zoroastrian idea of holy fire. Trigon and Angra Mainyu is a little harder to spot. Pop culture doesn't have an origin for Angra Mainyu, it's just the evil/destructive spirit in the dualism. While Trigon's look owes more to modern demonology, his origin is the Azarathians purging themselves of their evil spirits and that evil congealing and festering in a void till it takes form.

Nothing there says Damian is immediately going to become Robin.DCAMU jumped straight to Damian as Robin and shoved him in the Titans and it ruined the franchise. They had to walk it back and put Dick in there for anyone to care, but by then the damage was already done.
