Art by Dan Mora
>>150131401Thoughts on the designs?
>>150131401One of the best Wheeljack redesign imo.
>>150131401
>>150131401Probably my favorite of the bunch
>>150131401Superior Soundwave
>>150131401That's, just Prime
>>150131401And lastly, Megs
I'm already sick of Dan Mora. He's competent but somehow dull.
>>150131549might just be the constant exposure? he's on a lot of stuff and his works keep popping up everywhere, you might just be tired of seeing his stuff
For comparison, here's art he did for the Dino Megazord back when he was on GGPR and before he became a big name artist in comics
>>150131401Where’s Shredhead?
>>150131445I think Mora is deliberately trying to make them more "scratchy" to still be "on model" with what Daniel Warren Johnson drew whether on his accord or because of what Kirkman wantedIt's still Geewun so I'm not as enthusiastic about it (then again I don't expect anything drastic for obvious reasons) but they look better here than what the sneak peak showedI like Mora a lot but Corona and DWJ draw robots that feel more "alive" Even with the characters simply standing still there was more personality in their drawings for the Cybertronians than there was in Mora's in those pages we saw at SDCC

>>150131401I really don't like the sketchy look of Skybound. It doesn't look right for TF's. it looks too amateurish.
Looks alright, but Kirkman writing is a big no. I can understand the Mora fatigue, but dude is just cashing in. He seems to be fucking fast and probably trying to stack as much cash to live like a king in Costa Rica.>>150132170>it looks too amateurish.Nobody tell this anon about the IDW years.
>>150132235>He seems to be fucking fastHe ishttps://www.youtube.com/live/DdNSEG1rkak
>>150131445I'm really curious as to what Thundercracker's arc will be. We know the autobots will confront him after he stole the Ark but what happens after that?
>>150132272Beyond the obvious answer, just drawing. How does he do it so quickly? I still feel like I take forever, especially when I am inking.
>>150131840That's certainly not doing him any favors but I don't know I'd like him more if he was on fewer books either.
>>150132235I hated IDW too.though the art was the least of THEIR problems.
>>150131445I don't mind them, or the artstyle change, for that matter (I can go on an entirely different tangent in that regard), but I can't deny I am kind of concerned about whether the action may suffer from having Mora as an artist or not, I'm not very familiar with the dude's work but I do know he's doing a shit ton of comics at once, not sure if one about mechas is gonna help him in that regard.
>>150132342Drawing is his job and jobs like those require all your focus to be put into them and nothing else, that's pretty much it
>>150131467too much ass
>>150132272Actually come to think I wonder if him being this fast is part of why I don't like him. Not that speed is a bad trait, especially in regards to a heavily deadlined work environment but speed comes with it's disadvantageous too. It leaves less time for planning for though. To craft your scenes and narrative. A lot of this can be due to the author as well, I don't know how the plotting is shared between the two usually. Some writers like to be more hands on some will just give you the idea and then leave you to do what you do. Robert De la Torre was like that on Conan. And while he's not nearly as fast it's more intentional as well. I think I feel like Mora is just meeting deadlines.
>>150132272Neat, and I'd imagine he's even faster when he's not flatting and coloring himself.>>150132342Unfortunately it's mostly the obvious answer. Practice and repetition. If you're inking yourself, pencil more loosely and do more of the drawing with your inks to save time. Erase less. Key into tools you use / dispose of decision paralysis from too many tools, systems, shapes, and common elements you draw to refine the process. Commercial art requires you push yourself to adapt so you can produce quickly. It's honestly amazing how skilled good comic book artists are all things considered. They have to draw so much shit at such a break neck pace, unlike their preening fine art peers.
>>150131484Jazz shouldn't have door wings
>>150132650Why not?
>>150131540I'm interested in seeing if they will give Megatron the tank form that the studio series toy uses.
>>150132685Cuz not only does it give more identity from the other car guys with door wings, it also helps slim down his character model so he looks more like someone who's supposed to be the covert operations guy.
>>150132600>They have to draw so much shit at such a break neck pace, unlike their preening fine art peers. It's quite astonishing, too bad they don't make as much as they're truly worth. Though the same could be said with many creatives within arts and entertainment. I guess the latter artists still see the medium as simply juvenile in comparison. Which is quite ignorant and arrogant to assert. But I'm not too surprised if that's the case. Much like how animation isn't seen with the same prestige as the rest of cinema.
>>150132801Scattman Crothers gives him more personality than most of the other characters combined
>>150132828True dat.
>>150131401Cool. Wheeljack is my favorite bot.
>>150131401Thighs too roundFaceplate too cool, in fact he almost looks like a Jeeg ripoffShoulder gun too big>>150131445Wings too bigWaist too small>>150131467What are these ONE-ass proportionsShins too fat>>150131484Waist too narrowForearms too bigDoorwings in the cursed too big/too small zone>>150131502>>150131526>>150131540Okay I guess
>>150133068>Makes dinosaur robots because he was bored. You deserved better Jackie
>>150131876>For comparison, here's art he traced of the SRC Daizyujinfixed. You can tell it's just heavily referenced if not just plain traced fro this figure; a lot of art around this time before the SoC was clearly using this as a base, especially since the forearms aren't positioned like they are on the original.
>>150131401I find his art style feminine.
>>150134109How so?
>>150134339He makes the men very pretty
>>150134701They tend to lean on the more handsome side but I agree at the very least. The men and women he draws are very attractive.
>>150132578where
>>150135500Hot
>>150136366behind
>>150131401Kirkman writing the series is going to be a huge step up from the "HURR WRESTLING MOVES, HURR 20 ISSUES OF NOTHING BUT ACTION SCENE" and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.
