The bottom art style is called "diet anime". The millennials (and as of now a small handful of Gen Z'ers) that grew up watching anime but they don't have the talent or passion to translate that art direction into their own style so they resort to mindlessly aping it and as a result almost every action cartoon looks like it was drawn by tweens that grew up on those "how to draw anime" videos on Youtube. A lot of the designs are uninspired and boring and the animation and fight choreography is awful. The only time you can get good animation out of a *mainstream* cartoon's fight scene is in a Genndy cartoon, from those guys that make the lego monkey show, and TTG and Gumball when they decide to change their animation style for gags. Also notice how I highlighted mainstream, because the truth of the matter is that finding a good cartoon nowadays is hard thanks to streaming. No commercials, the ads are never for them, and the only way you can find them is through word of mouth or social media post, and usually by the time you discover them it's on its way out.

Everyone’s calling this artstyle "faux anime" but I don’t really think it’s that anime at all, it just feels like a cheaper way to adapt comics into animated series, sure you can argue there’s some anime influence at play, but it mostly tries to be its own thing. I remember DisneyXD in the 2010’s having Marvel shows with artstyles similar to that on the bottom.In my personal opinion, I wanna see more action cartoons like PowerPuff Girls or Samurai Jack that actually do cool stylized shit with their action scenes while still keeping a western cartoon look to them. Panty & Stocking was influenced by those kinds of shows and has some pretty neat-looking stylized action scenes as well.
