>Captain America: Brave New World underperformed, but slightly exceed the very low estimates going for it.
>Thunderbolts flopped despite glowing reviews
>Superman soared domestically but struggled internationally, still the highest grossing of the year and considered an all around success
>Fantastic Four opened big, cratered, then got a mild second wind and wound up with a mid-tier performance
>>
It's been a rough year.
>>
Superman and Thunderbolts deserved better. It wasn't their fault Marvel and DC have been pumping out garbage for years. I haven't seen Fantastic 4.

Where were you when capeshit is died

Both Superman and FF could've earned some 50-100 mill more if not released two fucking weeks from each other. We're not at a time where having two films of the same genre at playing concurrently is viable.

Fantastic 4 was good because they actually tried to put in a sincere effort in adapting the source material while also making something that didn’t feel like another generic run of the mill MCU movie like *cough* THUNDERBOLTS*****cough* but like you said, they flushed their goodwill down the toilet putting out bullshit like Quantumania and The Marvels and Captain Falcon.

it’s better than 2024 and 2023, the latter of which was the absolute rock bottom. at least 3 of the 4 movies they put out this year weren’t terrible. 2024 had one success from Marvel amidst the sea of Sonyslop and Joker getting fucked in the ass.

Next year might be similar in terms of quality. 3 out of 4 have had smooth productions, while just like BNW Doomsday sounds incredibly messy

i’m expecting the worst for doomsday. it feels there’s a thousand ways it’s gonna go wrong and be a disaster. if they pull it off, i’ll be surprised. it still won’t change the fucking awful RDJ casting.

Superman and Fantastic Four were the only attempts in years of capeshit movies that actually respected their source material and leaned on it instead of just using it as an IP farm. Not the best movies of all time, not even the best capeshit movies of all time, but they were at least fun. Solid 7 and 6, respectively

I think that was mainly because Marvel probably didn't expect Superman to do as well as it did. Remember that during the MCU's golden years they had some films that didn't do as well as Man of Steel or BvS but DC only had one film that hit more than $1 billion (Aquaman) while Marvel Studios had 8 films that made more than a billion, two of which hit 2 billion.

Don't forget that DC had a string of flops and underperformers starting with COVID. The Suicide Squad got by as being a film that was streaming at the same time in theaters and Aquaman 2 may or may not have made its budget back. The MCU took a while for audiences to lose goodwill with it

Yeah, the timelie adds up to it being a Disney move. While announced earlier, the date for FF got shifted a couple of times before setting the July slott in stone, way after Superman had already taken the July 11 slot.
