I unhappily propose the following: It's not just seeing Mike that is the problem but rather seeing him so openly happy with James--or really anyone else other than Lucy. Because that's a sign that Mike is on the way to getting over her. So long as Mike is miserable, there is a chance he is wallowing in guilt for "rejecting" her. A Mike who is enjoying life is a Mike who is not thinking about Lucy. There is less and less of a chance that he will eventually gravitate back to her, which leaves Lucy--in her mind--all alone. This would of course be subconscious because I seriously doubt that Lucy has given it any thought. It won't, but I kind of wish the following would happen:>Augustus drives a wedge between Mike and James>Mike flips out way harder that Augustus planned>Lucy shields goth cat (remember? like when Paulo came knocking? it's pottery)>for once Mike is so angry he doesn't back down>rants about how he keeps getting punished but it's never enough while the local wannabe rapist is forgiven because Lucy has chosen him of all people as her new security blanket>Lucy denies that and tries to drive Mike off (MOAR POTTERY) but he's not having it>Mike tells Lucy she's doing the same old thing by isolating herself to just Augustus (chapter tagline: "Oh, I know this story!")>both cats are pissed as hell by this point>Lucy declares she doesn't need Augustus and the one reason she's not back at the table is because of Mike>gray cat sarcastically challenges Lucy to prove it by offering his seat at the table>Lucy is caught off guard and surprises all three of them by accepting>both she and Mike double down so hello new status quo>at the table she makes up a story about how Mike didn't want to sit with James and David anymore so here she is>David takes credit for bringing her back

You do have a point about the yelling, and that's partly why this is all wishful thinking. The plausibility level could be inched upward by having Mike suffer an emotional breakdown partway through, so the yelling turns from angry to desperate and unhinged. It's the truth of his words that would get under Lucy's skin and he'd have to offer his seat out of resurgent guilt with a side of short-lived mania.

There was no reason not to make Jordan bisexual or something and throw Matt a bone. Or at least use Paulo's newly found bisexuality in an applicable way other then scoring brownie-points by claiming he is bisexual but never have him do anything with any other boys?Even Mike weirdly got a gay kiss.The last we really hear from Matt is him sobbing about being so alone and Paulo making it about him being an incel too. Then Jordan just being like "Oh I was gonna set you up with Paulo" and Matt be a-ok about Jordan doing this, in spite of supposedly being so heart-broken not that long ago over it.Since that point Taeshi has not done anything remotely close to that. It wasn't well written, but it was at least a break from the BPD-melodrama and the characters weren't as fucking annoying back then.It's been nothing but downhill. I remember Witch Hunt being really fucking annoying to read but EF maybe took the cake.
