Meanwhile, while no one was paying attention, Fantastic Four ended up grossing enough to turn a profit.
>>
>>150156177
Lmao it needs 3 billion just to break even
>>
>>150156177
OI! Not bloody likely mattie. According to muh secret inside sources the bloody film needs to at least make back the national budget of a first world nation to even break even.
>>
>>150156333
3 Billion, + the 10 Billion they spend for their marketing campaign on Mars alone.

Really don't know what Disney was thinking with that one.
>>
@150156177
Budget's estimated at minimum "$200m+" and likely closer to $300m, nigga. They haven't turned a profit yet. What's this thread for? Marketing?
>>
>>150156507
>200+200>506
>200+300>506
Great math skills you have, there, anon.

>the movie has to make twice its production budget to turn a profit
>no wait, the movie has to 2.5 times its production budget to turn a profit
>no wait...
>>
>>150156333
You laugh but there was a time when Disney films made 10x their budget
>>
>>150156177
MCU is so fucking back.
>>
>>150156665
They really didn't. At this time, China lied and inflated the ticket sales.

>forgetting how the marketing and media got more pushy after release as the movie started to falter
That shit aint cheap.
>>
>>150156177
Wait this shit is still in theaters
>>
>>150156734
Even if you cut out the international numbers, The Lion King (1994) still made 10x its budget
>>
>>150156749
>>forgetting how the marketing
The marketing, is outright included, nimbus. Even if it's pushed it to just bellow 300 million as that one anon claimed, with zero actual source, it's still outmatching it. Seriously, what is wrong with the basic math part of your brain?

>>150156796
Yeah, incredible how it's unable to match with one of the best movies of all time.

Where did the whole notion of marketing budget being half or more of the films budget come from. Because I've been thinking a lot that it's probably not true.
>>
>>150156979
Yeah it would make no sense for it to be such a standardized thing
>>
>>150157002
plus major companies have so many other avenues of income that I don't think they even factor the advertising as part of a specific movies budget.
>>
>>150156177
I don't follow /tv/ media too much these days so I was unaware that Pascal was apparently being shoved down everyone's throat and everyone hated him for whatever reason.
Then I recently found out he was in Last of Us and things started making a little more sense. Am I correct in assuming most of the hate started after that?
>>
>>150156949
Exactly. You agree with me. Disney used to make the greatest movies of all time and now they don't.
>>
>>150157095
Every big studio at some point or an other have made the greatest movies of all time.

Expecting them to do it on a consistent level is broken way of thinking that consider that masterpiece can somehow be streamlined in a production line.
>>
>>150157095
For a while they also made a bunch of crap. It wasn't called the Disney Renaissance because they were already on a role. Renaissance literally means revival.
>>
>>150156582
Twice its production budget accounts for how theaters get to keep around half of the box office haul, but some foreign theaters like Chinese theaters taking more of the haul.
And then even American theaters get to keep more if the movie stays in theaters for longer.

2.5 accounts for Marketing budget.
Do you think Pedro Pascal got so much attention around the movie's release because he is so beloved and popular?
>>
>>150157047
It was a bad casting choice but no one was swayed against watching this just because of him.
>>
>>150157258
So Disney isn't dead, it's just back to where it was in the mid 70s and 80s and deserves praise for it.
>>
>>150157271
>how theaters get to keep around half of the box office
It actually vary and is much less than that during the first week.
>2.5 accounts for Marketing budget.
and it has done more than that, so yeah, the multiplier has still bee accounted for.
>>
>>150157271
>>150157304
I used to work in a theater. We made ass off the actual movie. There's a reason a tub of shitty popcorn costs like 11 dollars.
>>
>>150157136
Disney managed to consistently create great movies for a long time, outside of the Disney Dark Age which still gave us some good films like Robin Hood.
>>
>>150157292
I think he did good as Reed Richard.

>>150157295
>So Disney isn't dead, it's just back to where it was in the mid 70s and 80s
Man, it's not even close. You do'nt know how bad they were in at that time.

Also, they have actually made a billion with the live Lilo and Stitch, somehow.
>>
>>150157324
>Disney managed to consistently create great movies for a long time
No more than any other famous studio, anon.
>>
>>150157353
I think at least a bit more than other famous studios. There's a reason Disney became as big of a brand as it did.
>>
>made a profit
>rebuilding good will for Marvel
Go woke go.. err... make money?
>>
>>150157370
>I think at least a bit more than other famous studios
Are you familiar with Warner Bros?
>>
>>150157402
Fair enough. At the very least Disney had a niche of consistently making great cartoon movies.
>>
>>150157136
>Every big studio at some point or an other have made the greatest movies of all time.
Being able to do that relatively consistently over the years is why they became and remained big studios.
>>
>>150157480
>Being able to do that relatively consistently
Disney was no more consistent than the others. You just have tunnel vision.
>>
>>150156949
Marketing is not part of the production budget. Never has been.
>>
>>150157095
I mean, what did you expect. The director had a movie to his name before this one. No veterans want to do superhero movies anymore.
>>
>>150157545
Do you know how to use your brain? Or have you reading comprehension issue?

The calculus was outright and clearly adding the production cost to the marketing cost. How did you not grasp that?
>>
is this movie actually good? The casting and female Silver Surfer made me lost all interest.
>>
>>150157634
It's decent. She's decent.

I liked it and I found it very true to the comic.

I really do'nt see what there is to complain about the casting, they nail the roles and looks the part and also, this is an alternate earth, so, for me, that explain why the Silver Surfer is female.

Maybe they could have made her golden and name her Starglow, but I guess Silver Surfer is a more recognised name.
>>
>>150157615
Its not calculus you brown skinned third world poop smelling goat fucking child raping jeet fucking loser.
>>
>>150157323
That your theater sees most of its profit from the concession stand does not disprove that a theater keeps around half of the ticket cost.

Quick google of a financial article:
"A movie theater’s profit varies widely, but on average, they can retain about 50% of ticket sales. Concessions are highly lucrative, often marking up to an 85% profit margin. Overall profitability depends on location, attendance, and additional amenities."
