Can anything save them?
Maybe
No
>>150166615No, nothing will.
The writing's been on the wall since 2014. CN decided to tone down their shows, make them less hyper, more grounded, they wanted more emphasis on empathy cartoons, meanwhile every kid on earth was losing their mind over FNAF.
>>150167025>>150166714>>150166973yep, 2014 was when CN died. Some say it died in 2009 with live-action crap such as CN Real, but even then the era from 2009-13 did have some good stuff
>>150166615The channel shutting down and becoming a TV shopping channel selling kitchenwares and furniture
>>150166615They're already dead
>>150166615Nope. Only delay tue inevitable. They are the obstacles standing in the way of animation and when they finally fall we can start to heal.
>>150166615Shut down everything related to cable television and focus resources into making new original shows for Max or whatever the fuck streaming service they're on now
>>150167892This. They're just burning money trying to keep their stations open. Nobody watches TV anymore, hell, my 80 year old Grandma doesn't watch TV anymore. She uses Netflix and YouTube
>>150167906Oh no they still get a shitload of free money from cable. 100% of Paramount and WBD's net income comes from cable, everything else they own loses money. Especially their streaming services. Even 1/3 of Disney is just cable, the remaining 2/3 is parks. People buy it just to watch the news or sports and bars throw a bunch of TVs on playing hockey, doctor's offices, but a chunk of every box's monthly fee goes straight to the channels. All 3 of these companies could sink money into movies and shows that all make $0 for the next decade and they'll be fine.
>>150166615Yeah, nostalgia-bait. Here's the most jewish advice I'm going to give on this board: if you want to hook new generations on your brand, you need appeal. Be self-masturbatory. Rerun your shows. Rerun old advertisements. Make Roblox games and mobile apps. Sell out and cash in on memes. It works for Nickelodeon because kids know and buy merch of characters from cartoons they've never even seen before. Do the same, do it cheap. Stop paying for new shows and start paying for new seasons of old shows. Not reboots, new seasons.
>>150166615No. Normies don't care enough about CN. Everything they try won't work.
>>150167992This. Why do you think zombie channels like Discovery Life and Disney XD still exist?
>>150166615>Can anything save them?Not really.
>>150166664It's dead, Jim
recently CN got taken out of my cable package and i was pretty sad about it. but then i started listing shows i watched to download them, and it was evident CN hadn't made a new good show in at least 7 years, and i mostly watched fox reruns on adult swim.
>>150169634Infinity Train gets pretty good, but for the most part you're right.
>>150167067>Live action shows on a channel called CARTOON NETWORKDid nobody tell the idiot who came up with that where they were working?
>ok, we had our most successful period yet, what can we do to keep growing >durrr, let's make live action shit>oh no, this move sent us into a death spiral, how could it happen
>>150166615The entertainment system does not really exist for them any longer. No one bothers with broadcast tv, and streaming does not really do channels either. Their whole format is dead now.
>>150169795>”Let’s copy Disney and Nickelodeon, they are successful no?”
>>150169795>>150169885CN from the moment it started doing original programming was the "Cheaper but more creative freedom" 3rd place channel. This is a fantastic thing to exist for cartoon fans who appreciate the content but is a constant source of anxiety for the people on the business end of things. So seeing how live action was working out for the other CN decided to try and claim a bigger slice of the pie and the cost of what made them unique.
>>150169987It really would have worked if they hadn't forgotten one tiny detail. Nick and Disney's sitcoms brought in the girls who were too insecure to watch cartoons, meanwhile CN made one show about imaginary friends and one about videogames.
I used to rule the worldSeas would rise when I gave the wordNow in the morning, I sleep aloneSweep the streets I used to own
>>150170061Add on top of that stuff like Destroy Build Destroy and it was clear that CN was trying to court the male version of that same demographic. But firstly more boys stick around cartoon spaces and this was around the same time that the total migration to video games as the not only primary but sole hobby for many boys began in earnest.
>>150170071After seeing this image so much recently it continues to annoy me how almost every 3d depiction of Ed gives way to round of a head.
>>150166615By the end of this decade, GLITCH will be a bigger name in cartoons than Cartoon Network.
>>150170071My wives Ami and Yumi!
>>150169574At least they tried to do different styles this time. Here was their last 10.
>>150166664I’m convinced CN will be owned by Disney before these come out
>remember CN as being the highest quality and most liked kids channel by a wide margin>in reality it rated way worse than disney and nick for its entire existencei still don't get it. most of their cartoons were nothing special. does live action just completely dominate?
>>150166615Nope. Kids are watching AI India slop.
>>150170765Nick and Disney were just around a longer and didn't take as much chances as CN, thus making them more normie friendly.
>>150170881people watched romeo????
>>150170740>They're all rounded. What happened to sharp corners in cartoons?
>>150170881>Kids' WB had the three top shows of that time though it looks like Xiaolin tied with the Sponge>Warners gave up and let the block die because DUDE CABLE LMAO
>>150166615>Pivot to a Crunchyroll style model.>Develop cartoons with young adults in mind.>Look at how anime approaches genres.>Don't do western adult animation.>Look at what indie YouTube creators are doing and invest in them. Not hard to save them. They're just too entrenched in legacy media.

>>150172099>99%Fuck that's bad.
Let's say you get an internship at Cartoon Network, and for whatever reason you get picked randomly to be the one to choose the next show to go into production (David Zaslav snorted cocaine and picked you by throwing darts at a board, or some shit); they show you the pitches to pick from, and the options for you to choose are:>The Skibbidi Toilet Show.>The Sigmazing World of Andrew Tate.>IShowSpeed Goons in Ohio.>Chris Chan Rizzes Again at 3 AM.>Baby Shark v. Fortnite: Dawn of Drake. What do you do in this situation?
>>150166615>owned by Warner Bros.>the same company lead by a CEO who doesn't like cartoons and has been slashing animation budgets across the boardNo. They're one bad fiscal year away from getting written off.

>>150174893they're all playing with this
>>150166615The only thing that could save broadcast tv is the internet disappearing and never coming back.
>>150166664I REMAIN UNCONVINCED. - Karl Franz
>kids are all on their phones these days>therefore we should give up, cancel our action shows, air ttg 24/7 and make no attempt to avert this trend or cater towards a more niche audience of teens/young adults
>>150174984Broadcast TV is unironically in a better place than cable or satellite. At least the former is free, and doesn't need you to sign up for anything unless whatever the fuck they're doing with ATSC 3.0 ruins that
>>150175290This is also not implying over-the-air is in a very healthy place, either.
>>150175263That's really the thing. You hear "it was inevitable" pretty often but when you look at industry shows compared to what was remarkably popular with kids during the same year, it's just night & day. I'm not saying these networks should've gone full mascot horror but did they have to make the shows even softer than they were before?
>>150166615How can you save something that wants to die?
>>150169795...I liked dude what would happen as a little kid. It was basically PG Jackass in hindsight.
>>150166615Let it go. All the decent one, even Genndy, are gone. CN did this to themselves.
>>150166615prolly not :(
>cn studios is dead>ignored the creators of the classic cn cartoons for years>spammed ttg until everyone left>decide to pander towards toddlers>rarely re-air old shows>rarely air cartoon movies other than fucking scooby jew movies>do jackshit with video games as a mediumit is dead, and i feel fine
>>150172099WHY did they do it bros
>>150176583Fag
>>150169848Haha yeah
>>150166615It needs something that makes people stop and say "you could only get that on Cartoon Network". I think they should try more edgy and brutal shows, maybe have a little bit of blood in them like Powerpuff Girls had. Something that pushes the envolope and says "You guys can have your boring therapy session shows; our protagonist is about to beat the shit out of the bad guy over on our shows".I seriously think that would bring CN from the brink. They'd have to take criticism, of course, but I think people will see more success if they accept that criticism is a part of the job.
>>150178401>I think they should try more edgy and brutal shows, maybe have a little bit of blood in them like Powerpuff Girls had. Something that pushes the envolope and saysCN's too baby to even do that now sadly, one of the reasons why invincible fight girl got moved to AS it's because CN was worried that the show was too violent because the main character they got punched a few times
>>150166615is it still only running teen titans go?
>>150170881You're reminding me that during the Channel-tans threads it became a running joke and or fetish to represent Cartoon Network as this fat ass slut who sold her body for ratings and the Adult Swim sisters were also some type of prostitute
>>150170881I had no idea Xiaolin Showdown was doing so well. What the fuck happened that they let that die the way it did?
>>150166664For fuck's sake. Every. Single. One ... is some blue-haired millennial's idea of what a cartoon should be, instead of something kids would actually like. How are they so oblivious? You don't have to go full Cocomelon but at least have the basic understanding of what a stoner cartoon is (dead on arrival) and what a kids' show is (cute merchandising opportunities)
>>150176583The thing is that the last few years they really did seem to be trying. The last five or so years they not only pulled back on all the TTG shit, killed the toddler block they failed miserably with, and instead actually showed variety. They brought back a lot of their old shows and would rerun them throughout the day every day. Even had dedicated blocks for them between regular Cartoon Network and Adult Swim in that Checkered Past thing. But apparently that didn't work out? The Checkered Past block is now dead and a lot of the open push for older shows isn't as there anymore. They still have a surprisingly varied schedule now a days, lots of Gumball but it came back so I sort of get that, but they keep making weird choices.
>>150175338>Horror is taking off with kids >FnaF is extremely popular with children>Trevor Henderson became popular within horror circles and slop machines for his creations like Siren Head and Cartoons Cat>Bendy and the Ink machine was one of the first instances of someone trying to capitalize on the trend FnaF created and that working out for them>Kids are learning animation tools to make their own horror series on youtube>It doesn't even have to be scary, just weird and grotesque in a fascinating way>Instead Networks shave off the edge of their cartoons and make everything annoying and safeIt would have been the perfect time to go back to edgy kids cartoons. We should be living in a Hot Topic renaissance for fuck sake, not living off the slop they import from the East
>>150179310No. It hasn't really done that in years. But that reputation never left it. Honestly, that show and the damage it did to the network and it's reputation is hard to fully measure.
>>150175263>>150175338>>150179411It's seriously funny how 2000s CN had the makings for a literal goldmine if they just stuck to what they were doing for a few more years, only to instead piss it away for the most inoffensive unappealing slop ever. Action cartoons to appeal to teen boys, Horror cartoons/shows to appeal to all kids who want to feel a little braver, and slightly risky Comedies that appeal to everyone.
>>150169414No?
>>150179369They're having the same problem as Disney and made the same mistakes as Disney.
>>150166615No
>>150179361Meanwhile the whole time twitter tried to tell us nothing changed and we're all just getting old
>>150170740god i wish elliott from earth got at least one more season. it was a nice little show
>>150182253Mic Graves made it, and after CN screwed it over, he refused to return to Gumball.
>>150175263>>150175338>>150179411It's because the execs think cartoons are for preschoolers and that's what gets made. They don't care that kids want something with edge and lore like Five Nights at Freddy's, or maybe they don't understand that's what kids like, who knows. They just want to make Beanmouth and His Gay Little Friends Go On Adventures! and have it be the blandest, safest corporate slop ever so that 4 years olds can watch it without their parents complaining, even though no 4 year old would give a shit about this show.
>>150179411>We should be living in a Hot Topic renaissance for fuck sakeWe are, if you take a single step outside the mainstream. I work at a flea market and you'd think it was 2007 again looking at the kids/teenagers that come in.
>>150179369>>150180626Here's the thing. All that is too little and too late. Cable was on the sharp decline in the late 2010s and instead of trying to correct or keep any of their old audience, they double down on TTG, they doubled down on inoffensive slop and drove them away. What they didn't count on was the younger audience to leave them too in favor of the hip new thing on the internet to kill any interest they had in traditional TVYeah, I guess it was nice they have a more varied schedule now. Or that Acme Nights was a thing they attempted. Or Checkered Past was a thing. But does any of that fucking matter now in the era of streaming and priacy? I can watch all their shows and more on my PC in various different ways, most people can, having a special block isn't anything of note anymore they didn't even lean that much into the nostalgia of it, couldn't even be bothered to air some old idents or promos to sell it. I felt nothing when Checkered Past ended because I can already watch the shows they were airing, and more. I'll be honest, I couldn't give less of a fuck if they decided to spam TTG again, it's not like they're doing anything interesting with the space they have now, being mostly just reruns. and loop. Frankly I couldn't give less of a fuck if CN as a whole shut down, the only real loss would be Adult Swim, which frankly is running on fumes itself at this point. Everything CN has done for the last five years is too little, too fucking late, they couldn't see the forest for the trees and now have to live with the consquences of that.
>>150170071Fuck...
