Back in the day all those things existed out of necessity - digital infrastructure was barely a thing before 1999 and so more robust physical infrastructure was a requirement, also Disney was on the proverbial backfoot when Disney channel was established and definitely had to make more appealing amenities to attract talent. Also nepotism, also grifting money from shareholders and taking advantage of standards and practices in Hollywood and the lack of fiscal oversight.

In short, that's just the way things were done until recently. Now this shit makes no sense since most show running can be done from home at this point. But still, fuck it why not? It's the mouse's money anyways I couldn't care less if they pamper their cast members it's probably to prevent unionization too you don't want rock the boat when shit is cozy

Big City Greens is still the best cartoon airing.

A lot of it ends up being for show because most people are too busy worrying about hitting their deadlines and wondering if they'll even be working next week. Disney has done this even in their earlier years because it makes their studio look more appealing to outsiders to go work for them.
