>>1501741485, 3 & 4. A brother and his twin sisters, they were around for a few years in the 60s, and pretty much disappeared once Peppermin Patty and Woodstock joined the strip.
>>150174223>>150174245Damn didnt expect a reply
>>150174223>>150174245oh wow i didnt realize they were the number kids
>>150174223>>150174245WHERE'S THE JOKE, SCHULTZ
>>150175001The joke is that naming your children numbers is silly. It also preys on the fear the boomer has about the future with all these new machines so it elicits laughter as a response when you encounter something you dont expect or you fear so you try to lower the tension with laughter
>>150175073>the fear the boomer has about the futureAnon these strips were written at a time boomers were literally still being born.
>>150175121boomer just means old person in 4chan lingo
>>150175001Better joke teller than Watterson
>>150174162>Names Shredder>Doesn't want to destroy turtles
>>150174148Don't look at them anon...Don't think about them anon...The screams won't stop....
>>150174148Huh. Never realized they were twins..
>>150174223>>150174245Peanuts lore runs deep...
>>150174223So are the parents 1 and 2?
>>150174263"text neck" before it was cool
>>150175001It was also something about zip codes which were just being introduced. 5's full name was 555 95472. He also later named a short used character, Tapioca Pudding .
>>150174148>>150174223Funnily enough, the twins 3 and 4 only made a handful of appearances that ended right around the time the special probably entered production. 5 though stuck around for decades in the comics as a background/minor character and wound up lasting in the strip longer than Shermy who was originally a primary cast member. Not sure why Patty isn't in this group since she was in that special and she's pretty much the only other recurring character in the strip at the time that wasn't; Charlie Brown and Lucy were just off-stage and Charlotte Braun had already been murdered a decade earlier.
>>150177909You figured it out all by yourself
>>150178209>and Charlotte Braun had already been murdered a decade earlierAnon, you can't just say that without telling the story, and I wouldn't dream of stealing that honor from you
>>150174148For everyone who's been calling 5 "Shermie," the actual Shermie is the boy in the green shirt
>>150178224Charlotte Braun was a character introduced fairly early in the strip's run that was generally disliked by the readers because of her attitude and personality. Basically take Peppermint Patty's obnoxious behavior from the Thanksgiving episode, dial it up a notch, and imply that she's yelling all of her lines at the top of her lungs. So a little girl wrote to ask Schulz to drop her and got this response:>Dear Miss Swaim, I am taking your suggestion regarding Charlotte Braun and will eventually discard her. If she appears anymore it will be in strips that were already completed before I got your letter or because someone writes in saying that they like her. Remember, however, that you and your friends will have the death of an innocent child on your conscience. Are you prepared to accept such responsibility? Thanks for writing, and I hope that future releases will please you. Sincerely, Charles M. Schulz.Schulz never used her again, not even as a filler character in specials or backgrounds.
>>150178317See, isn't that great
>>150178317So Miss Swaim learned to live with the blood of an innocent child in her hands?
>>150178465Elizabeth donated the letter to the Library of Congress shortly after Schulz died so her legacy of murder will live on.
>>150178535Literally Dexter Morgan
>>150178535Even if Schulz was probably planning on dropping the character anyway, it's a pretty great claim to fame.
>>150178317That was like his first misfire character. He was introducing characters that weren't originally there, but got big and eventually over took Shermey, Patty and Violet (who was the first new one) but here's his first misfire. He waited about 4 years to introduce a new one, Sally.
>>150178102>95472Sebastopol, California. Where Schulz was living at the time. Also, Jesus. What a rough year.>Schulz's father died while visiting him in 1966, the same year Schulz's Sebastopol studio burned down.
>>150174148The dog's name is Snoopy
>>150174148>penuts
That time Schultz made a live action movie with his self insert as spike the dog and his daughter, in order to try and help launch her acting career.
>>150178102Do the newer specials still use '50s-style schooldesks?
>>150182215School desks still look like that in most of the country
>>150182876bullshit
>>150182876How could you possibly know? Have you been to all 50 states and done random inspections of a few schools in each?
Mindy and Mandy.
>>150181266And then her acting was so bad that she was never in another movie ever again
