Why aren't Iron Man comics cooler?
>>150178083Because you don't read them.
>>150178083Because he's Iron Man, not Ironing Man
>>150178083Why did they go back to Titanium Man's old look when he has a 2000's redesign that was actually good?
>>150178083>Iron man get an Alex Ross redesign>Doesn't bother with the villainsThey really have no loves for villains.
Because he doesn't change anything in the Marvel U with his tech. He should just buy a small town, solve their problems with SCIENCE!, and make it America's Wakanda filled with smart people working for a better tomorrow.
>>150178083He was never cool before RDJ. Of course, the comics failed to capture even that.
>>150178083I was reading Iron Man's original debut in Tales of Suspense, and it's funny how different he was from what he has become, especially compared to how early it seems like marvel "figured out" a lot of their big characters. Even ignoring the totally different look he had for the first handful of issues, his power set is completely different; no flight, no blasters/repulsors, the big thing was the magic Stark transistors. It's very bizarre how much refining the concept took.
>>150179329>no flightHe had air compressed boots! And suction cups! And roller blades! And magnets, dear good, the magnets....
>>150179373Yeah, I mean, that's what I'm saying, he had a ton of "transistor-enhanced" gimmicks. His power set is almost totally different than what he has now, whereas it seems like a lot of the marvel heroes sprang pretty fully formed. The skates were fucking dope though.
I tried readin some comics of his, the og run was silly but a bit boring compared to FF/Thor/Spider-Man.Extremis was nicely drawn, but the story was comedically bad lol. I really laughed when the angry neonazi villain killed the punk chick - the pacing, his seething, and immediately cutting to her body laying with a missing head, felt like it was for a comedy book. But otherwise, I wouldn't say it was a good plot.I read a good early chunk of the late-2000s Invincible Iron Man, and it was definitely more interesting, but gosh I cannot stress how much I hate the art - I couldn't take it after a point. I think I dropped off somewhere after the "Tony on the run from Norman Osborn" plot ended, that one was fun.Which comics should I try that I'd maybe enjoy more? I really like Armored Adventures and the movie trilogy, so I'm sad I can't say I like much of the comics I've read, yet.Maybe Demon In A Bottle or Armor Wars? Or one of the Avengers runs?
>>150179383Basically a gadget hero.Dikto must have came when he designed the red suit, he loved those gadgets.
(Oh, and I think og Titanium Man has a really friggin cool design)
>>150179216The Cantwell run was sort of meant to be a bit of a Throwback run, so everyone returned to their 70s designs.
>>150179410On the topic, I hate that he sucked out all personality from Controller, Blizzard and Unicorn to be just mooks for Korvac
>>150179431Yeah, it's a run with more flaws than positives, which is a shame as the premise is good
>>150179325Wrong
>>150179396I like this design he had, it nicely sells the evil Ironman counterpart and him as a bulky bruiser together nicely.https://comicvine.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/11183/111836101/9370065-80-0901.jpg
>>150179437The biggest issue besides focusing to much on the single overarching plotline was Patsy Walker, the one part of the run I do really like is Melter being an asshole and just melting Tony's car
>>150178083I've been seeing a lot more people on comic twitter trying to get people to read the Bronze age era Iron Man runs
>>150178083>Why aren't Iron Man comics cooler?Because they are capeshit
>>150179438Examples?
>>150178083You do what Chris Claremont has done in his ongoing for Wolverine and you basically write the stories as if they were in a whole different genre than capeshit.
>>150178083They slowly got rid of all his cast, I still remember when he was friend with Scott and was an uncle figure to Cassie
>>150179479Stfu trannyfaggot
>>150178083Because Ironman has been power crept to the point of him not having a rouges gallery anymore. Sure he has "villains" but they aren't a real threat to him now.
>>150179323>Had a dude on the show named Nathan Stark who looked a LOT like Tony.
>>150180198I'll let you guys be the judge
>>150180205That's Walmart Tom Cruise.
>>150180209Least it's not Dollar Store Tom Cruise.
>>150178083That's a cool panel
