Why would you like TNG because of fucking Geordi of all people? Like I love the dude, but he's the most milk-toast backgroundish main character I can think of that show. I know they were pretty much doing the dense "black characters love black characters because they're black", but wouldn't Worf at least make more sense?

I think it was Clarke’s Rama books. The woman ended up refusing the participate because the characters are all “old white men” and so she couldn’t relate and couldn’t get into the books. So it’s not just fictional people who can’t relate to characters aren’t just like them. There are also real people who can’t.
