I think they fucked the viking guy over but having him make a pact with a literal demon/devil. I know there was magic in one of the episodes in season 1, but the whole "there is actually a hell and this dude got sent to it" was kinda retarded to me. I would have much rather see the viking chieftain and his son survive.

I feel like Primal had at least another 2 or 3 seasons of man/dino adventures in it before bringing in more advanced civilizations

He would be up there with the other Norse gods chilling in Asgard. He's not some dark firey devil. Like why would a Viking guy be sent to Hell for being vengeful? They were expected to avenge the death of their loved ones. It's so dumb. It's like Genndy just saw that Vidarr was the god of revenge and just wanted a primal Satan monster who sends a fire demon at the protagonists so he could justify a scene where a burnt jerky man has sex with the bald chick.

Samurai jack could have had ashi without a romance thing and it would have worked just fine. In fact, I consider the first 3-4 episodes of samurai jack season 4 to be some of the best in the show. He built a new family with Fang and Mira after experiencing the greatest loss one could experience in that time, and his legacy now lives on. The way Genndy chose to tackle Spear's procreation was... questionable, but it's narratively sound when you look at the whole picture of those first two seasons. I couldn't tell you WHAT he was thinking when making "Jack gets a girlfriend" a priority after getting the miraculous chance to end Samurai Jack.
