People thought this was fucking hilarious once.
It was funny
>>150193450The Simpsons had been so bad for a long time that it was... alright. It was also just a callback to other episodes, like the rest of the whole movie. Sitting in the theater opening night, it was good enough for a chuckle, and that's fine.
>>150193450The movie made me realize that the show has become incredibly preachy and that the writers love inserting their obnoxious views through marge and lisa
>>150193508It's kind of sad that the simpsons have been bad longer than they've been good.
>>150193607And not even just a little. Like overwhelmingly so.
>>150193508>>150193607People don't even remember how popular it use to be.
>>150193450No they didn't.
>>150193607seasons 1-10 have carried the shows good will for decades to the point where the show is now too big to fail even though it hasn't been good in a really really long time.
Like all other things became enshittfied eventually :(
>>150193450Most people only remember Spider Pig or Bart's penis "joke"
>>150193450it was the style at the time, pop culture nonsequiturs
>>150193450i fucking dread the day they start using slang like "aura"
>>150193508I was fresh out of high school when it came out, stopped watching new Simpsons somewhere around early 2003 due to it hitting rock bottom and this was a fresh breath of air. Saw it with dad, uncles and cousins we all laughed like crazy. Then saw it alone when it was on DVD and got a few chuckles. Didn't hold up as much by myself.
>>150193818Same with Spongebob, really. One of those cultural touchdown shows everyone only remembers for the first few good seasons, but after a certain point any reference to later material just draws a blank.
>>150193463Yeah the Simpsons movie was funny, but it wasn't Fucking HILARIOUS
>>150195505I agree. It was servicable. Certainly above average when compared to the episodes airing at the time.
>>150195505a simpsons movie made during the 90s would had made fucking historybut alas, we are left with the scraps
